JOEY CHRISTOPHER TATES It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Joey Christopher Tates, on Monday, October 16, 2017. Joe lost his courageous battle with cancer peacefully and surrounded by love at the age of 56. He is survived by his children Santanna, Channing (Breanna) and Jamie (Ryan); grandchildren, Gavin, Nevada, Cole and baby Tates; father Richard Tates; brothers, Rod (Debbie) and Rick (Rose); sister Amaris (Luciano); foster sister Kathy; along with nieces and nephews, Kayla (Peter), Ryan (Carissa), Tyler, Isabella and Selena. Joe was predeceased by his mother Annette Courchene; daughter Christine Tates; brother John Tates and nephew Scotty Tates. Joe had a passion for cars and was gifted with an ability to fix any issue. His passion with cars included being an avid fan of all types of motorsports, motorcycles and classic cars. He began racing in his youth at Winnipeg Speedway. Joe was at home on dirt tracks and received the nickname "Smoking Joe Tates." He was always grateful for social gatherings of family and friends and will be greatly missed by many people. A special thanks to Lorrie Pismenny for all of her help and support. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue at Henderson Highway.
