ALEXANDER NAFTEN In the quiet early morning of October 22, 2017, Alexander Naften passed away surrounded by family. With sad but peaceful hearts we said our goodbyes to our husband, father and grandfather (Gi). He will be forever missed by his loving wife Loretta of 66 years; daughters Lori (Dennis) Treyturik and Wendy (Bob) Titley. His grandchildren Jared, Breanne (Brett), Dale (Kaylin) and Paul will always carry a piece of Gi tucked in their hearts. They were his pride and joy. He loved them unconditionally. He was a special man who was adored by nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Lucille Nafostowicz; siblings John Nafostowicz, Anne Pauk, Ollie Nafostowicz, Bill Nafostowicz, and Sylvia Goska. We know they were waiting with open arms. Gi was a man who believed strongly in the importance of family and built from the ground up a gathering place where family came each summer to mark the arrival of another lake season. The cottage at Lee River was where memories were created, laughter was shared and silliness happened. Gi loved the lake. It was his happy place and in turn it became our happy place. As a family, we have been blessed with the joy of spending our lives with this wonderful man. He will be forever missed. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the home care providers, especially Susan, for the support and care they gave him. Thank you to the nurses and doctors at Seven Oaks for their compassion. Thank you to our family and friends for being there when we needed them. We would also like to send our gratitude to his neighbor, Joe, whose daily visits brightened his day. A celebration of life will take place at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., on Monday, November 6, at 3:00 p.m. A private family interment will follow at a later date. The family would like to request that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Pancreatic Cancer (www.pancreaticcancercanada.ca) in memory of his sister Sylvia or a charity close to your heart.
