ALEXANDER (ALEX) REHBERG February 28, 1928 - October 23, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved dad and Opa, Alex Rehberg. Alex is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth, sons Alvin and Harry (Lynda), grandchildren Trina (Bruce), Hayley (Lars), Steven and Natalie, and great-grandchildren Taven and Hudson. He is also survived by his sister Olga, sister-in-law Berta and brother-in-law Fritz,  and numerous nieces and nephews. Alex was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Karl, Eduard and Friedrich, and sisters Maria (Raedcher) and Josephine (Klatt). Alex was born in Koplanow, Ukraine and later, during The Second World War, moved to Germany with his family. In 1955, Alex came to Canada and met his future wife. Alex and Ruth were married on March 2, 1957 at the original St. Peter's Evangelical Church, a congregation they remained members of through the years. Alex worked at Labatt brewery in Winnipeg until his retirement. He was also a longtime member of the German Society of Winnipeg and a proud former mayor of Folklorama's German pavilion. He loved spending time at "the German club," as well as gardening, watching his favourite soap opera, and enjoying his coffee and cake. In August, 2017, Alex became a resident of Maples Personal Care Home, where he passed with his family by his side. His family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff, whose caring and compassion greatly helped Alex and his family through his final months. The family would also like to thank Dr. Bialy for the excellent care he provided Alex. In lieu of flowers, Alex's family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Wir lieben dich, Opa. Always missed, never forgotten.

  • On behalf of the Schulz family, I would like to extend our family's condolences on Alex's death. My parents - Ed & Gertrude Schulz - were long time friends of Alex and Ruth whom they cared for a great deal. Unfortunately, time marches on for everyone and Alex is now in a better place. Our sincere sympathies to Ruth and family. - Posted by: Harry Schulz (Family friend) on: Oct 30, 2017

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Rehberg, I enjoyed having a chat with you at Safeway and I know how concerned you were abut your husband at that time. I know he will be sadly missed but do take care of yourself. I hope you are all well otherwise. Hugs. Take care.
