JOSE PEREIRA LOURENCO It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Jose Lourenço. On October 30, 2017, surrounded by family, he peacefully passed at age 81. Jose is survived by Gilda, his loving wife of 50 years. He leaves his children: David (Gaétane), Filomena (Rick), Elizabeth (Jamie), Gilda (Michael), and seven grandchildren: Connor, Danté, Dylan, Austin, Amaya, Daliyah and Dustin. Jose was born on July 18, 1936 in Santo Antonio, Azores. He immigrated to Canada in 1967 with dreams of a new life to start a family. Dad was a hard-working man who worked tirelessly to support his family. He had many passions, time with his grandchildren, countless hours of gardening, making wine, time with friends and devotion to his beloved Portuguese community. Always looking for a good time, he was well known to snap his fingers, tap his feet and dance if given an opportunity! He enthusiastically participated in card games, festas at the church or the Portuguese park. Although he took many trips, his greatest pride and joy was taking his children and grandchildren to Portugal. The family has so many memories to cherish, thanks Dad and Avô. We love you and miss you. Descanse em paz. Obrigado Father Tiago for his compassion, his visits and blessings. Special thanks to Dr. Gill and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital. Prayers will be held on Friday, November 3 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N., Winnipeg. Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 4 at 11:15 a.m. at the church with Fr. Tiago Coloni officiating. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to CancerCare Manitoba.

  • I am very sad to find out that this amazing human being has departed to the Lord. He was indeed a wonderful man always so happy and cheerful, I never saw him sad. It was such a great pleasure to have him and Gilda join my trip to Portugal, Spain and France, I will never forget him, as long as I live. Dear Gilda I am so sorry that your wonderful husband has departed and left you, but just think that God wanted him now and he will not suffer anymore, no more pain but plenitude in the Kingdom of eternity, where you will meet him again one day. May God comfort you and your family, during these very difficult days Your friend Elda Bernardo - Posted by: ELDA BERNARDO (FRIEND) on: Nov 02, 2017

  • My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. - Posted by: sara wedlake (friend of family) on: Nov 02, 2017

  • Meeting Mr. Lourenco as a young teenager, then spending several years as his children's longtime friend, I am thankful and grateful to have met such a loving, welcoming person. He always made me feel welcome into his home and I remember listening to his stories and also wine making techniques that he hoped I would share with my own family. I was more saddened to hear about his suffering as of late and now feel he is in a better place looking down on his wonderful family. I hope God heals all his family's hearts soon, and then we can celebrate with smiles and laughter all the great memories he left behind. My family and I send hugs and kisses and deepest sympathies to all grieving. And to Mr. Lourneco I say: Foi um prazer absoluto ser seu amigo e estou ansioso para acelerar o tempo com você novamente algum dia. Pode descansar em paz com o Senhor e sorrir para sua grande família. - Posted by: Fil DeStefano (Friend) on: Nov 02, 2017
