LINDA ELIAS It brings us great sadness to announce the passing of Linda Elias, suddenly after a hard struggle with diabetes while in Concordia Hospital, just two months after her husband Larry Elias passed. Linda was predeceased by her foster father Marcel Thompson, brother Jimmy VanMeer, and son Christopher Elias. She will be greatly missed by her brother John and wife Bev VanMeer; son and daughter, Derek and Rena; sister-in-law Debbie Elias, and many nieces and nephews; Linda's daughter Lorna (Norm); sons Aaron (Kerri) and Jason (Justyna); grandchildren Tayja, Samantha, Sarah, Christopher, Raymond, Amber, Phillip, Zachary, Abigail, and great-grandson Elias. Linda had close friends from the block, Kristan Groening and Missy Kaschyshyn and their children, who she was a Baba to and her long-term friend Miriam Giesbrecht. While living out in Narol, St. Clements Linda worked for Nancy Shewchuk in the Narol greenhouses where she dedicated her green thumb. She then spent many years at Robin's Donuts where she met her best friend Zofia Rozybowski. From there she took the manager's position at Eatwell family restaurant with son Jason, teaching him a thing or two about cooking. Linda will also be sorrowfully missed by her foster family, mother Valerie Thompson, brother Greg (Monique), and sister Denise (Wayne). Linda was an unusual kind of person who spent much of her time looking after others. She was amazingly self-sufficient and always there for her family regardless of the circumstances. She was highly regarded for her wonderful sense of humour, the ability to bring stability and joy to so much that she could do for others. Linda was a wonderful mother and provided her sons and all the Narol boys and girls with constructive feedback and unwavering devotion. She was steadfast and very courageous. Linda was indeed an unique person and will be mourned at her sudden passing by so many. The family would like to thank the staff of N1 North of Concordia Hospital for making her lengthy stay there one in which she enjoyed, with both good care and fellowship. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Diabetes Canada, 401-1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6.
