Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION ROSE GOSSELIN (SOLTYS) Marion Rose Gosselin, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, with family by her side. She was born to the late Louis Soltys and Anne Soltys on April 7, 1928 in Winnipeg. Marion started working at Christie Biscuits in Winnipeg in 1951, where she stayed until her retirement in 1988 at the age of 60. During her time at Christie's she worked her way up to a shift supervisor when the factory was in operation. We ate way too many cookies growing up! She met and married Joseph Francois Gosselin on April 28, 1955. They were married for 37 years when he passed away on November 9, 1992 at the age of 64 years. Marion enjoyed 5 pin bowling which she did up until her early 80s. She bowled weekly with her sister-in-law Anita Fyfe, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She also loved to hop on the bus and take casino trips with Anita. Marion had travelled to Las Vegas several times which she really enjoyed. She had her first experience at an all inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with her son Donald at the age of 81 years old. There she discovered the "Chocolate Monkey" beverage from Eduardo was a great way to start her day. She was predeceased by her sister Jean Atamanchuk. Marion is survived by her son Donald Gosselin of Winnipeg who was her primary support and caregiver, and someone who honoured his mom with all his heart; daughters Rita Kein (Gosselin) of Ottawa; granddaughters Lindsay and Madeline Kein; daughter Kim Wolkosky (Grant) of Kamloops, BC. As well, her sisters Annette Hawrylenko (Walter) of Victoria, BC; sister Eleanor Ryan (Bill) of Saskatoon; and brother Edward Soltys (Trina) of Campbell River, BC. Also sisters-in-law Anita Fyfe (Jim) and Vickie Gosselin (Rollie), Audrey MacKenzie, Fernie Caley (Bob) who were always her biggest cheerleaders and supporters. A special note to Sylvia Twersky and Connie Perrella of Carriage House where Mom lived. Both ladies were very kind to Mom and checked on her regularly while she lived there. As well, Marion leaves behind many other nieces, nephews, and friends. Mom was an excellent homemaker and mother. She always made our house a home where everyone felt welcomed. She loved and cared for her family always. She was an excellent cook, and having large dinners at her home followed by a lively game of cards was something she enjoyed. She passed on her love of plants and flowers to her three children who all have green thumbs and enjoy gardening. Marion will be missed by all. Thank you to everyone who came to see her in the hospital and spoke to her on the phone. She died knowing she was loved by all of you. Marion's wishes were to be cremated and have a celebration of her life. This event will be held in the spring of 2018 and everyone will be notified. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Seven Oaks Hospital - Comfort Care Room in Memory of Marion Gosselin. Donald, Rita & Kim: Being one of the oldest grandchildren I benefitted from the kindness and generosity of both Marion and Joe for a good portion of my life. I will always remember the support they provided for my Mom and Rick and I when the going got tough. They were always available when needed. I also remember many a family dinner and standing at the sink washing dishes while my Mom tried to convince Marion to sit down. It very rarely happened as Marion was always concerned for others before herself. I also remember the epic pierogy making sessions we used to have at your family home. I had to smile at the recollection of Marion's love for casinos remembering the stories I heard from my Mom about their adventures. Your Mom will always remain in my heart. Don and I send our condolences to you and your families - Sharon - Posted by: Sharon Waylett (Atamanchuk) (Niece) on: Nov 13, 2017

Don and Rita, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was loved by all. Whenever I saw her she would always make me feel like she was genuinely interested in how I was doing and would always ask how my son (Mitchell) was. She showed such an interest. I remember fondly the times when we were kids coming to your home on Polson for dinners and events. Your mom and dad made it so much fun and of course your mom made fantastic food. She was the best hostess, always concerned for everyone else. I will remember that most about her. So thoughtful and loving. She will be missed. - Posted by: Colleen Brumwell (Fyfe) (Niece) on: Nov 10, 2017

Donald and Rita, we are truly sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. Both her and your father were one of a kind who always went out of their way to please everyone. We will never forget the times we travelled to Winnipeg and enjoyed the dinners and card games you spoke of at their home. We always had lots of laughs when we listened to your folks around the kitchen table. One of the better memories we have is the year we flew down to Las Vegas with them to celebrate your folks 25th wedding anniversary. Once again sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Glenn and Margaret Emond (Nephew) on: Nov 10, 2017
