  • Had the pleasure of meeting Rudy a number of times in Ottawa. He made all of Karen and Josef's friends feel like extended family. Thinking of all the family at this difficult time. - Posted by: Colleen Richards (Friend of Karen and Josef) on: Nov 23, 2017

  • When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. Even though I met Rudy only a few times, I will always remember him as an extremely friendly, generous and helpful person. Our thoughts are with Annette, Robert, Karen and Kathie, who have lost a wonderful husband and father. Love, Martina with Michael, Felix and Jakob - Posted by: Martina Steinig (Josef's sister) on: Nov 23, 2017

  • Rudi was a gift to those who knew him. We only crossed paths a few times over the years but his penchant for a good joke will always stick with us. You will live on in many hearts Rudi. God bless. - Posted by: Ted and Deena Ryan (Friends of Karen and Josef) on: Nov 21, 2017

  • As friends of Karen and Josef, we were fortunate to get to know Rudy well during his many visits to Ottawa. Rudy had a truly noble spirit -- loyal, generous, open, helpful, hardworking, patient, funny, smart, resourceful, adventurous. He was a deeply loyal and giving husband, father, grandpa, and friend. We will remember countless conversations with him about his pride and joy, his family, and also the state of the world. He pursued his passions fully-good food and drink, the outdoors, travel, sports, games, fixing stuff! His spirit will live on in his family, and inspire all of us who knew him. Condolences from the Opazo Baer family. - Posted by: Maggie and Jaime Opazo and family (Friends in Ottawa) on: Nov 21, 2017
