LEO MUTH Leo Muth passed away Friday, November 17, 2017. Leo was born in Antonovka, Poland in 1932. He was predeceased by three brothers, one sister (infant) and one grandson (Jessy). He is survived by four sisters, two sisters-in-law and their families. He is also survived by his children, Sig (Loni), Urs (Paul), Monika (Tim), Hans (Linda), Werner (Bonnie); twelve grandchildren and their families including nine great-grandchildren, as well as our mother, Hildegard. Growing up in Europe was difficult. The challenges of the Second World War forced dad's family to relocate a number of times. In 1951, dad and his family managed to escape communist East Germany. That same year, their travels took them through West Germany to Canada with the final stop in Winnipeg. Soon after arriving, dad sought work. He was never unemployed thereafter. He spent many years as assembly foreman in a furniture plant. However, his real joy was carpentry. He was able to use his talents as a carpenter until retirement in 1998. Even afterward, carpentry projects brought him a sense of joy and accomplishment. We thank you, the staff, at Meadowood Manor for the wonderful care you gave our father. Sincere thanks to Reverend David and Darlene Holland for their attention to dad. Dad, your speech and mobility eroded. You faced difficult challenges these last few years. These difficulties no longer constrain you. We thank the Lord for all the times we were able to enjoy your company and help you when you needed it. We love you and miss you. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg with viewing prior. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Meadowood Manor Foundation, 102-575 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2M 5B2.

I remember Leo the my first couple of days working at Palliser. I had to go and get a wood working jig from him. He told me to ask one of the other guys working there. He told me the German name for it. I was told to ask for it under that name. Well each guy I asked started to laugh. I didn’t know why so I asked all the guys in his department. The last one asked me why I wanted a wood stretcher. I was laughing all the way back to Leo who was standing there beside the jig I needed also laughing. His humour and fun time will be missed by everyone who new him. - Posted by: Arthur Wiebe (Friend) on: Dec 02, 2017

We offer our sincere sympathies to the Muth family on the passing of their dad (opa/great-opa). He will be missed by all who knew him and by all of you who loved him, remembered in so many ways. The phrase "working hands at rest" come to the forefront of our memories with the beautiful wood-work he did. May he rest peacefully now watching over all of you as you continue to honor him in all you do. You are in our thoughts and hearts ..... Johnny, Chris and family. - Posted by: John and Chris Koldon () on: Nov 27, 2017
