MICHAEL MOROZ It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael Moroz, age 98, on November 20, 2017 at Maples Personal Care Home. He will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Chris (Ivan), Darlene, Sandi (Rick) and his granddaughters, Kim (Paul) and Kelly and his great-grandchildren, Owen, Lucas, Grace, Lane and Levi. He was predeceased by his loving wife Helen in 2006 and his son-in-law Bill in 2005. Dad is the last survivor from the family of Anna and Wasyl. He is predeceased by his brother Alex; sisters Magda, Mary, Teenie, Rosie, Eileen and many special nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Kruezburg (Fraserwood), MB on May 4, 1919 on the family homestead and due to his father's untimely passing when he was only 8, he had to grow up quickly and soon took over the farm full time, becoming a strong role model to his siblings. He joined the Canadian Armed Services and in 1945 married the love of his life, Helen Tarnowski, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Mom and Dad farmed until 1956 when they courageously took a leap of faith and moved to Winnipeg with their young family. Dad became a City of Winnipeg Transit driver where he faithfully served for 28 years. Retiring in 1984, Dad and Mom loved exploring and spent many happy days travelling in their RV, enjoying trips from Alaska to Texas to Mexico. A major part of Dad's life was his faith and he was dedicated to St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, of which he and Mom were among the founding members. He was a long time active member of the Men's and Senior's Clubs. Dad was a member of the Father Shyshkowich Knights of Columbus and was honoured with a lifetime membership to reflect his 51 years of service. Sincere thanks to the Maples Personal Care staff for their loving care and compassion. Our thanks to the fathers and all who visited and prayed for Dad. Special thanks to Father Bohdan Lukie for his unwavering support to Dad and our family. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue, Winnipeg on Monday, November 27th at 10 a.m. with Father Frank Szadiak, C.Ss.R. officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Building Fund or Blessed Velychkowsky Martyr's Shrine. Vichnaya Pam'Yat

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Mike and Helen were always lights of joy. Although we only saw them occasionally, we remember their smiling faces and cheerful countenances. Mike was a fireball of energy that brought happiness wherever he went. We know he is with his beautiful wife and all those that went before, and one day we will all enjoy a wonderful reunion. I'm sure he will be dearly missed by his children and posterity. He was a great example of faith and hard work. - Posted by: Carole Ann Bowyer (nee Prymak) (Grandniece) on: Dec 06, 2017
