GAYLE (CHICK) ELMORE SMILINSKI It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of their mother Gayle on December 1, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Wes and Vi Elmore; brother Danny and brother-in-law Walt. Left to mourn, are her husband Ed; sons, Dan (Olga), Darrell (Yvonne), Brent and Mark (Jamie); daughter Karen (Steve Pataki); grandchildren, Steven, Alex, Tara, Jason and Rachelle; brothers, Bob (Thelma) and Frank (Jean) along with their families in Thunder Bay and the Sault; and sisters-in-law, Marge and Cathy Elmore. Gayle was born on May 19, 1935 in Regina, SK, however, she grew up in East and North Kildonan. She loved to participate in sports such as biking, swimming, skating, skiing, volleyball, golf and bowling. Mom and dad bought their first trailer in 1966, and fell in love with camping, weekends spent in the Whiteshell and Grand Beach, countless trips to Thunder Bay and seasonal camping at Nutimik and Falcon. They also enjoyed trips by truck together from the East, West, South coast and everything in between. One big moment was Hawaii, where the kids sent them on the 50th. Mom said it was a dream come true. Mom also enjoyed her two mother-daughter trips to New York City. She worked at Winnipeg Supply as a service dispatcher for 25 years where she made many lasting friendships. In later years mom and dad enjoyed visits together in Texas with Frank and Jean. The family would like to thank the palliative care staff at Riverview for their care. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
