Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRHONDA BROWN (nee BEST) September 19, 1964 January 1, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of our dearly loved sister and friend on Monday, January 1, 2018, at the age of 53. Rhonda was predeceased by our father Melvin in 2002 and mother Dolores in 2010. Leaving to cherish her memory are her brother James (Sara); nieces, Amelia, Cassidy and Alyx; along with many extended family and friends. Her nieces were a great source of joy for Rhonda and she took every opportunity to spoil them. The times we spent with auntie Rhondie were very special for her and for all of us. Rhonda was a force that always got noticed, like a hurricane. She was one to get the party started and was prone to say inappropriate things. She spoke her mind and those that knew her were accustomed to her colourful language. Rhonda had little use for a filter but that was all part of her energy, character, and charm. Rhonda's time at the Winnipeg Sun was very memorable for her. She enjoyed her job, but more importantly loved the people. After her strokes and sight loss, she became involved with the CNIB and made great friends there. Those at CNIB gave her something to fight for and we are all grateful for that. She will be deeply missed by those she touched. A special thank you to Bryan Jensen, whose previous actions gave us more precious time with Rhonda. Thanks to the homecare nurses and the Seven Oaks Renal Clinic for all their loving care. A service to celebrate Rhonda's life will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

Rhonda was one of a kind! And will be missed by everyone who knew he. I fondly remember her in the Sun newsroom: loud, energetic, and everyone's friend. Gone much too soon! My condolences to her family and many, many friends. RIP Downtown Rhonda. - Posted by: Brian Smiley (Winnipeg Sun colleague) on: Jan 15, 2018

I was privileged to work with Rhonda at the Winnipeg Sun. She was always so upbeat and energetic and always a joy to be around. Later, even when life gave her so many challenges, she always amazed me with her positive attitude. Her always present smile and laugh was a testament to the strength she possessed to get her through what others might not have been able to. My condolences to her family. Rhonda really was one of a kind who brightened the lives of so many people. - Posted by: Lucy Kowalchuk (friend and past co-worker) on: Jan 06, 2018

A tribute to my incredible friend Rhonda Brown! My life changed when I met her! I thought I was out there but she trumped me! She trumped the hell out of me actually! The world lost one beautiful soul on January 1st. She passed away from a heart attack in her 50s! It’s truly unbelievable how life can be completely catch you by surprise! Rhonda & I worked together. She was a sales rep at 92Citi at the Wpg Sun, NCI, QX104 and who knows where else! Rhonda spread her sunshine all over the place! She was truly larger than life and grabbed ahold of our hearts the moment she stepped into a room! I don’t know anyone like that. She had a very sharp tongue and left me in stitches everyday. She told it like it was, she had a beautiful character, she was smart, witty & wonderful. Rhonda drank coke slurpies like they were running out at 7-11 and was the most impressionable person I’ve ever met! I loved her, I loved how she made me feel but mostly I will miss the hell out of her! Downtown Rhonda Brown thank you for gracing your life on us and for changing ours! You were the true spirit of a human and I’m glad I walked this earth with you! Love you forever girlfriend! - Posted by: Brenda Fulsher (Friend) on: Jan 06, 2018
