Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHUGO LOEB Hugo Loeb passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the age of 89, at East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home, Beausejour, Manitoba. Hugo is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernice (nee Schmidt); his three children, Debbie (Gerald), Valerie (Tom) and Lorna (friend Craig); his grandchildren, Tim (Josée), Christopher, Kelsey (Tarun) and Stephanie (Sean); great-grandchildren, Ava and Dominic; sister Margaret Drewlo; sisters-in-law/brothers-in-law, Mary Loeb, Audrey and Henry Schmidtke, Jim Clemis and Doreen Smith; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Amalie Loeb (nee Reinhardt); his siblings, Ethel Kunkel and William (Billy) Loeb; his brothers-in-law, Don Drewlo, Rudy Kunkel and Clifford Smith; and sister-in-law Eileen Clemis. Dad was born August 25, 1928 in Lydiatt, Manitoba. Dad grew up on a farm with his parents and worked briefly in Alberta before meeting Mom at a St. Ouens barn dance. They were married on November 12, 1955 and farmed together in Lydiatt until 1993, when they built a new home in Beausejour. They resided there until 2015, when Dad suffered a stroke and moved to East Gate Lodge. Dad had a deep faith in God. He loved music, attending various social events including dances, fiddling contests and gospel jams. He enjoyed the drive to get there too. Mom and Dad enjoyed hosting many dance parties in the basement of their farm home and later in their farm shop, and then in their new home in Beausejour. In younger years, Dad enjoyed playing hockey at the Kurt Loeb rink and was a long-time season Jets (WHA) ticket holder. The farmer in him enjoyed his garden in later years. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour. Interment at Lydiatt Cemetery will occur in the summer. Honorary pallbearers are Dad's grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dad's memory to St. John's Lutheran Church in Lydiatt or East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home in Beausejour or to an organization of one's choice. Sincere thanks to East Gate Lodge staff and doctors for the kind and patient care of Dad during his stay. I moved away from Beausejour a long time ago, but whenever Jane and I were back in town we tried to look up Hugo and Bernice. Hugo was always easy to find, even if he wasn't home. If you waited on Park Avenue long enough he would drive by. - Posted by: Ken Albright () on: Jan 30, 2018

We are saddened to hear of Hugo's passing. Jamey and I have so many happy memories of your visits to Chilliwack BC. We also had a lovely visit with your family at your home in Beausejour. Just a couple years ago Bernice,Valerie and Tom came out to BC for a wonderful visit. Our kids Derek and Jill remember Hugo's first jump on our trampoline, lots of laughs. Blessings to Bernice and all the family, Love Laura Arlt - Posted by: Jamey and Laura Arlt and Auntie Irma (cousins and Hugo's Aunt) on: Jan 14, 2018

I am so sorry to hear of Hugo's passing. I only knew him from the Craft Sales in Beausejour but he would stop by for a chat or two each time. He was a pleasure to talk with and I always looked forward to seeing him and Bernice. My sincere condolences to Bernice and to all the family. He was a true gentleman. He will be missed by all who knew him. - Posted by: Linda Adams (Friend--Watkins lady) on: Jan 12, 2018
