JOHN W. KLASSEN
Born: Jun 06, 1937
Date of Passing: Jan 09, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN W. KLASSEN June 6, 1937 - January 9, 2018 John passed away after surviving a stroke a year and a half ago, surrounded by his loving wife Arleen of 56 years, and his family. John gave his life to the Lord at a Billy Graham crusade and later met his Queen Arleen (as he called her) at Briercrest Bible College at Caronport, Saskatchewan. After a successful career in sales in Edmonton, Alberta, he and Arleen ventured to Poplarfield, Manitoba, where they purchased and operated their turkey "ranch" for the next 14 years. John's passion was his family. Whenever or wherever they needed him, he was intentionally there. John was known as a strong man, keeping fit by weightlifting, rollerblading, and walking. Besides exercise, John loved westerns, country music, anything to do with horses, farming, and being a helper to anyone who asked. Johnny, Dad, Papa John, Pa Klaw, Grandpa, you will be deeply missed. You will always be our Superman. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Maples and Bethania Personal Care Homes for their loving care and kindness shown to our father over the past year and a half. Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Kilcona Park Alliance Church, 1977 Norris Road, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, in memory of John, donations may be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3.

When I was young John Klassen and his family lived and worked at the Friendly Family Farms business south of Steinbach, Manitoba, where my uncle Peter and aunt Rosemarie Wiebe were managing the farm. I knew John to be a wonderful Christian gentleman who i looked up to and admired. I wished John and his family had been a bigger part of my life. Even now, at my age of 70, I still talk about him and tell people he's been a good Christian man who I looked up to. I'll see you in heaven soon, John, and I look forward to spending lots of eternity being your friend and brother in the Lord too. My prayers, love and Condolences to John's family and friends. I just found out today about his transition to heaven in the past. I saw how strong John was when he lifted up his horse. I've been around horse and I didn't know that was possible. John was cool and fun. - Posted by: Conroy Penner (Friend) on: Mar 21, 2025

From the first time I met John in NFLD I felt like I was family. He had a way of including you and speaking to you like he always knew you. I loved listening to his stories which were mostly of his family and friends. You could always see the passion and love when he was speaking. You are all an amazing family and I hope that the love, memories, faith and some laughs once in awhile will see you through this time of terrible sorrow now and in the future. Love, prayers and hugs to you all. - Posted by: Kelli and Derrick Matthews (Extended family ) on: Jan 18, 2018

Sorry to hear about your dad and husbands's illness. I am praying that God will comfort you and carry you closely as you remember him and grieve letting go of his earthly presence. What a legacy he has left behind! It is interesting to hear how he has impacted lives around him. I remember your dad as a fun and generous spirited person. I believe the last time I saw him he was volunteering at the Franklin Graham crusade in Winnipeg a few years ago. Prayers for peace and strength for your family.
