EVA OPYC March 5, 1927 - January 16, 2018 It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, baba, and Grandma Sunshine Eva Opyc, surrounded by her loving family, at age 90. Momma will be sadly missed by her children John (Barb), Mary (Tim) and Greg (Lori), daughters-in-law Tammy and Margaret; 13 grandchildren: Paul Jr., Colleen, Terrie, Kathryn, Jolen, Lexine, Michael, Stephany, Daphne, Steven, Chad, Cory and Stacey; nine great-grandchildren: Avery, Noah, Brianna, Jaden, Eli, Wynn, Olivia, Logan and Dana-Lee; sister Kay, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph; sons Ronald and Clifford; daughter Gloria, six brothers and five sisters. Momma was born and raised in Green Oak, Manitoba. From a young age she had a love for children. She was very proud of her six kids. She was a very hard worker and a wonderful hostess. Farming with Dad, she milked cows, hauled bails, harvest, big garden, flower beds, cut grass and an amazing cook, canning, sausage making. Momma loved to dance, polkas and Ukrainian music, playing cards (canasta, crib, durak and bugger your partner). She loved birds, flowers and watching her favourite Toronto Blue Jays baseball on TV. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, Manitoba. A private interment will be held by the immediate family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, 120 Easton Drive, Selkirk, Manitoba or Lions Lodge Residence, c/o Lyle Schwark, 418 First Street N, Beausejour, Manitoba R0E 0C0. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Selkirk Hospital staff and Dr. Ray for their care and compassion; Rose Singbeil for her many years of friendship and care; and cousin Eleanor for her love and care over the last many years. "Don't think of her as gone away - Her journey has just begun. Think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched, For nothing loved is ever lost - and she was loved so much".
