NELSON JOSEPH POETS August 20, 1947 - January 16, 2018 It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our brother, uncle and friend, Nelson Poets of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Nelson was predeceased by his parents John and Henriette Poets. Nelson is survived by his sister Diane (Dennis) Burr, nephews Joel (Tammy, Ashlynn and Grayson), Ryan and Mark Burr. Nelson also leaves behind his beloved pets Sabrina and Tiggy. Nelson was born in Ste. Rose du Lac, and moved to Brandon as a young man where he grew up and attended school and Brandon University. Nelson was a man of deep Catholic faith involved with St. Anthony of Padua Parish, and the Knights of Columbus where he would volunteer his time. He was willing and ready to help his family, friends and strangers alike, anytime with anything. Nelson was a unique individual that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Nelson will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Thank you for the memories Uncle Nelson. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Dominic Yuen on Tuesday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Ave. with reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Winnipeg Humane Society.
