ANTONIO FAGUNDES NOVO Peacefully with his wife by his side Tony passed away at Riverview Health Centre on January 21, 2018 at age 73. Left to cherish his memory is Maria Lucia, his loving wife of 44 years; his two children, Sandra and Davide (Marcia) as well as three grandsons, Mateo, Micah and Milo. Tony also leaves to mourn two sisters, a brother and their families, along with extended family and friends in Canada, Portugal and France. Tony was predeceased by his parents Avelino and Rosa, his sister Amelia and brother Pepe. Tony was born on June 5, 1944 in Neves Portugal, and at the age of 17 moved to Paris in search of a better life. In 1971 he moved to Canada. One summer while vacationing back home he met the love of his life Lucia. They married in 1973. Tony was a hard working man and always provided for his family. He was very proud of his kids and his grand kids. Tony was a life long Sporting-SCP fan. He was great with numbers and an amazing story teller, especially poetry. He loved reciting poems to his friends. After retirement Tony loved spending time in Portugal in the comfort of home and surrounded by childhood friends and memories. The family would like to thank Dr. James Paul and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, as well as the Palliative care team at Riverview Health Centre for their kindness and compassionate care. A private wake/prayers for family and close friends has been held. A funeral will be held at a later date, where Tony will be taken home to Portugal to his final resting place.
