Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryASSUNTA PESCATORE Pe acefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the age of 79 years, our beloved mother passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Assunta was predeceased by her sisters Maria, Giuseppina and her brothers Antonio and Luigi in Italy. Assunta leaves to mourn her passing, husband Giovanni (John), daughter Rosa Iandolo (Bruno), son Pasquale (Ginette) and daughter Giovanna Faria (Joe) grandchildren; Marianna, Sylvio, Matteo and Dante. She is also survived by her sisters, Rosa, who resides in Italy, Anna and Italia from Winnipeg. Assunta was born June 29, 1938 in Manocalzati, Avellino, Italy to Genoveffa and Antonio D'Argenio. Born into a family of eight, Assunta was an identical twin to Maria. Growing up in a small town in Italy, she experienced the tough recessionary times of life during the 1940s and 1950s. She came to Canada with her sister Maria by ship in 1957 returning to Italy to marry Giovanni Pescatore in 1959 and brought him back to Canada to live, love and raise a family. Assunta was a hard-working seamstress who retired after 35 years. She loved cooking, gardening and tending to her many flowers. She took pride in taking care of her family and joy in sharing coffee and laughs with family and friends. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of the family. Assunta will be remembered as an unselfish wife and mother who always had a smile even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength and never complained. She always had a positive outlook on life. Her children find comfort knowing that they now have an angel looking out for them from above. Prayers will be held Monday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Entombment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Chapel Mausoleum. The family thanks the staff at Amber Meadows for their attentiveness and the medical staff on the 4th floor and ICU at Seven Oaks Hospital and Dr. Burton Abbott who made her journey much easier.

I was fortunate to get to provide care to Assunta in the community over the last 8 years. I did not see her often, but when I did she always greeted me with a smile and asked how my family was. I enjoyed her family updates and chatting with Pasquale during my visits over the last few months. My deepest condolences to Rosa, Pasquale, Joanne and your families. She will be missed. - Posted by: Brenda Henry () on: Feb 26, 2018
