ELSIE JEAN THRUMBLE September 20, 1935 - February 19, 2018 It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Elsie Jean Thrumble following a short battle with cancer at St. Boniface Hospital. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, John; daughter Linda; son-in-law Dennis Impey; and granddaughter Amanda. She leaves behind her brother Derek (Mary) Rymer, her sister-in-law Susan (Mike) Brady and family from England. She will be sadly missed by her brothers-in-law, Colin (Janet) and David (Yvette) as well as her nieces, nephews and friends in Canada. Elsie was predeceased by her daughter Ann; her grandson Daniel Impey; her brothers, Les (Edna) and Percy (Claire); her sister-in-law Lois and nephew John. Elsie loved to spend time golfing with friends at Harbour View and curling with friends at Rossmere. Spending time with family was her treasured thing to do especially taking Bernie for walks. Along with her daughter and granddaughter, she recently took a trip back to England visiting many family and friends. Elsie was a very kind, friendly and loving person who always thought of others. A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Highway, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba in Elsie's memory. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

For the last 14 years Elsie has been a member of a ‘cyber family’ on a website for British expats called Your British Village. Through chats in the Village pub we gradually got to know each other and over the years we’ve had the joy of meeting in person on several occasions and in particular at several get-togethers in Merrickville, Ontario. The Villagers are from several provinces and even as far as Australia. We are going to miss her very much. She will always be in our hearts. It has been a great honour to have Elsie as a great Aunt. Memories we will cherish of her when she visited her home town Barnsley in South Yorkshire, England. My grandfather Leslie (her eldest brother) loved to have phone calls from her and he saved every postcard which Elsie sent along with photographs. Our hearts are heavy with sadness and we send so much love to Uncle John, Linda, Dennis and Amanda.
