Elisabeth is survived by her children, Kurt (Judith), Diana, Richard (Lorraine), Ernest (Sara), Charles (Janet) and Maureen (David), her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Edith Staerk, Emeline Sokola, Lenora Luczeck, Gertude Hodkinson, Rosaline Best, Augusta Small, Judith Protosavage, and Edward Schwark. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter; parents, Marianna and Gustav Schwark; brothers, Norman, Leonard, Wilfred, and Reinhardt; and sisters, Annie Stengel and Ruth Schultz. Elisabeth grew up on a farm and was the fourth of 15 children. She became a dedicated homemaker when she married Walter and worked tirelessly to raise her six children and manage the household. We all enjoyed her cooking and baking. Elisabeth had a passion for gardening and was well known in the community for her large and well-maintained vegetable garden. She enjoyed the company of family and friends, and in recent years spending time with her grandchildren. Elisabeth will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who put the needs of others ahead of her own. Special thanks to Dr. N. Van Rensburg and the wonderful staff at East Gate Lodge for the exceptional care and support they provided to our mother over the past six years. The family would also like to thank Sobering Funeral Home for their assistance and compassion at this time of sorrow. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9 at Grace Lutheran Church, 418 Gertrude Avenue, Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elisabeth's memory to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or Grace Lutheran Church, Box 538, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
