GISELE ISABEY It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother Gisèle Marguerite Isabey (nee Cormier), 91 years of age, on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Concordia Hospital, following a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Amedee Isabey; parents Charles and Sophie Cormier; siblings Camille Cormier (Bernice), Therese Girardin (Arsene), Aime Cormier, Monique Laurin (Jacques), Benoit Cormier (Lucie), Armande McKenna (Jim), Andree Lemoine (Jean), Alain Cormier, Edmond Cormier (Diane), Pauline Durand (Armand); and brother-in-law Ray Rochon. Remaining to cherish her memory are her four children, Lise (Scott) of Kelowna, BC, Pierre of Warman, SK, Mitch of Winnipeg, MB and Jocelyne of Toronto, ON; sister Agathe Rochon, brother Lucien Cormier (Cecile); and sisters-in-law Anita Cormier and Agnes Cormier. Gisèle was born June 1, 1926 in La Salle, MB, the ninth of 13 children of the Cormier family. She grew up on the family farm and upon graduating high school became an interim schoolteacher during the war, before moving to Winnipeg. Her first employment in Winnipeg was working the cosmetics department of The Bay downtown. She then pursued a career in the medical field, working for an otolaryngologist. It was then she met the love of her life Dr. Amedee Isabey. They got married on August 13, 1960 and spent 54 years together before his passing. Gisèle was a classy, elegant, and dignified woman; always a lady. She had a good and kind natured soul, a woman of great faith and courage. She was generous with her time, words, and deeds; especially towards family. It was following the birth of her first child that she sacrificed her career and focused her passion on raising her four children and helping her husband in his medical practice. She possessed a great sense of humour and a genuine, loving manner to make all whom met her feel better. She was a true encourager, always willing to listen and give of herself. A celebration of Gisèle will be held on March 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., Precious Blood Church, 200 Kenny Street, with private interment to follow. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of 4 DE of Actionmarguerite (Tache), for their loving kindness and care they gave when looking after her. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to a charity of one's choice.
