MARLENE COLSON Marlene Colson passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Asper Centre in Winnipeg, with her family at her side. Marlene was born November 10, 1956 in Macklin, SK to Norman (deceased) and Mary Colson. She met her husband Richard Kruszynski while working together at the Café 100 in the Centennial Concert Hall. They married and had three children who she loved very much, sons Dixon and Marlon, and a daughter Lauren. They lived in Kenora, ON, Winnipeg and Carman, MB where they owned and operated the Golden Star Motel. Marlene worked for various social services organizations, Winnipeg Child & Family Services, Kenora Family Resource Centre and most recently Champlain Day Care. She really enjoyed her interaction with the children, making crafts and playing games. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting, and making jewelry. Travelling was also one of her loves; Marlene did get to Africa with Canada World Youth and England with her mother Mary. She also had various trips to USA and Mexico; especially enjoying her weekend trips to Grand Forks and Fargo, ND. She loved animals and especially her dog Scooter who brought her much joy and love. She also leaves behind her brother Barry Colson (wife Doris) and two nieces, Ashley and Brittany, also in-laws, Debora and Rocky Chaika, and numerous cousins and aunts. Memorial service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg on Friday, March 16 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene's memory may be made to the North End Women's Centre, 394 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2W 2M2.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Marlene by far was the most kind, loving, big-hearted person I have ever known. Completely selfless and always worrying about everyone else's needs before her own. Truly a diamond in the rough-love you Marlene and will miss you greatly. Absolutely blessed to have had this woman in my life and will never forget her. Much love and many hugs to your family at this time. Marlene has touched many people in her life and has left a little of her heart with everyone she has ever met or cared about....how very lucky we all have been. • I was so saddened to hear of Marlene's passing. She was such a wonderful, caring person. My 2 granddaughters were at Champlain Day Care and I was also a teacher there so I saw Marlene often until I retired in 2010. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to all who knew her and loved her. May she rest peacefully in the hereafter until we meet again! - Posted by: Ellen Cook (Teacher at Champlain ) on: Mar 14, 2018
