Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAQUIM JOSE LIMA LOPES March 15, 1939 - March 13, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Joaquim (aka LOPES) will be mourned by his beloved wife of 49 years Odette, his daughter Lucy (Carlos), granddaughter Keanna (John), and great-grandson Andre, and Andre's grandfather Victor Gomes; his brother, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Toronto, Winnipeg and Portugal. He was predeceased by his only son Timmy Rafael Lopes who passed away in 1989 and several other family members. Lopes was born in Campos, Vila Nova de cerveira, Portugal. He immigrated to Canada at the young age of 18 to create a better life for himself. On October 5, 1968, he married the love of his life. Lopes was mostly known for becoming one of the first Portuguese private club owners in Winnipeg. He owned numerous clubs in the city prior to retiring. One of Lopes greatest passions was travelling back to his hometown in Portugal with his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street N.
