KARALYN CYNTHIA ANNE WAREING June 23, 1985 - March 15, 2018 Robert and Sandra Wareing are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of their beloved daughter Kara in Winnipeg. Kara was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Evelyn (Nana) and Fred (Papa), her paternal grandparents Harry and Winnifred and her great-grandmother Anne Bordulak (Baba). She is survived by her sister Jacalyn, nephew Kaden, her sister Sheralyn (Paul), nephews Ari and Adrian, her brother Richard, uncles Mark, Bruce and Harry, her "boys" Benji, Little Caesar and Gandalf, numerous loving relatives and friends. As a little girl, Kara was Nana and Papa's little sidekick. She used to spend a lot of time with them at the Lee River Cottage and in their Transcona home on Victoria. She filled their life with the kind of love only a child can give. She adored them both. When Papa died on the way back from the lake with Nana and Kara, she was there to comfort and help Nana at Beausejour Hospital until Mom and Dad arrived. She spoke at Papa's funeral and made us so proud at how brave this little 10 year old was. Kara went to Bonnycastle School, St. Mary's Academy and graduated from Vincent Massey Collegiate. She received her Arts Degree from the University of Manitoba followed by a Financial Security Investment Course. While in university she was employed by Convergys where she received numerous sales excellence awards for her hard work in meeting and exceeding sales targets. After graduation she became a financial security advisor, first at Freedom 55 and later at TD Bank. As a child she was quite athletic and enjoyed her soccer, swimming, Ukrainian dancing and Tae Kwon Do (achieving a Brown Belt). She could always be found in the water at the lake either swimming or pestering Mom and Dad to take her kneeboarding or tubing. Even after her car accident she would try to go to the gym to stay in shape and liked to go tanning. She enjoyed cooking and prided herself on all the things she had learned to make from her Nana. She was the resident perogy and cabbage roll maker at Christmas and New Years. Her life was forever changed when, in 2009, she had a major car accident on the Perimeter Highway. Although it was a miracle she survived she had to undergo several surgeries for multiple fractures and the placement of an arterial stent in her heart. She suffered from a major concussion, broken and fractured bones, collapsed lung, fractured pelvis. Kara was left in constant pain, through which she fought to have a normal life. She never complained about her suffering only focusing on how to help others by bringing a smile to their face or doing whatever she could to help out. Kara was a very social person who enjoyed her numerous friends and relatives. She enjoyed her chats with Uncle Bruce, Uncle Harry and Uncle Mark and felt a very close bond to them. Her friends were special to her and she always looked forward to time together. After seeing them she would tell Mom all the latest things that were going on in their lives. She loved to go downstairs and chill out with her nephew Kaden, even though it was not unusual for spats to break out and grandmom would have to intervene and bring peace. Her discussions with her sisters and brother made her life feel more complete and strengthened her sense of family. The family would like to thank Dr. G. Morris and Rose, Dr. P. Battle, Dr. T. Tufescue and Isabella, and all the doctors and medical staff who helped Kara over the years. She saw them as more than doctors, but as friends. Funeral service will be held at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. Father Mark Gnutel officiating. A luncheon will be held following the service, with an interment after the luncheon at Transcona Cemetery where she will be with Nana and Papa. The Broken Chain We little knew that day, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone. For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories; Your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side.
