MARGARET LOUISE DERKSEN
Date of Passing: Apr 03, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET LOUISE DERKSEN Margaret's gift was to live life with love and laughter. She communicated in a way that singled people out as being special, even if just for a moment. Her family and friends were treasured and loved in a way that gave them freedom to be themselves - and accepted. Her words became less frequent over this past year, but her eyebrows, smile and uplifted face assured anyone present that she was glad to see them. On April 3, 2018, surrounded by a few children and grandchildren, she breathed her last. Minutes before her passing, daughter Sandy spoke and touched her with expressions of love and blessing. An assurance of the love of Jesus and the power of his resurrection ushered Margaret through Heaven's gates, a hope she treasured. Margaret lived almost 90 years and was predeceased by her husband Cornelius in 2013. Margaret will be remembered because of many loving and fun life lessons and experiences, including words that encouraged faith in following Jesus. The legacy of faith from her parents and grandparents continues today through Margaret's teaching and into the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her five children and their families: Susan and Henry Wiebe, and their children David and Chantal Wiebe, Yuri and Lev, Heather and Alex Boersma, Cohen, Claire and Byron; Ruth and David Dyck, and their children Nathan and Melissa Dyck and Ella, Heidi and Charlotte; Carol and Harv Enns, and their children Lauren and Kristie; Sandra (the late Warren Froese), and their children Matthew, Daniel, Sarah and Taylor Brown and James; Don Derksen and Michelle Hildebrand, and their children Susanna, Kathryn and Julius; brother Ernest and Martha Neufeld, and relatives and friends. A sincere thank you goes to the staff at Donwood Manor on 2 North and Dr. Carl Duerksen. They are commended for their compassion and care. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Ash interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. Please meet inside the cemetery gates. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Donwood Manor Foundation.

Thinking of you and your family. I remember your mom's smile and how she would greet me at Portage Ave when I would go there with Aunt Kay. She was always so interested in how I was and what I was up to. Sending my love - Posted by: Tammy Kasak (Cousin to Sandy ) on: Apr 09, 2018
