Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWANDA JEAN MCPHEE September 18, 1958 - April 10, 2018 Wanda Jean McPhee of Winnipeg, MB has suddenly passed away with immense sadness to our hearts on April 10, 2018. A beautiful, extraordinary woman who believed in her heart and soul to treat everyone she met how she wanted to be treated. The people she "LOVED" were called 'baby' with genuine kindness and love. Wanda was predeceased by her mother Audrey Borden McPhee, her husband Jubal Fraser, and daughter Kiesha. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Tristan, granddaughter Emjay, best friend Olga, and special friends that were like family to her and her family. Wanda was employed by Shoppers Drugmart in Kildonan Place for almost a decade. Anyone who met her only knew of her kind, loving words she expressed to them and never the torment she suffered inside. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.

Since I was about 16, whenever I went into Shoppers at Kildonan Place, I would go into Shoppers and buy one thing just so I could say hi to Wanda. She always called me 'darlin' and was happy to see me and I was always happy to see her. One Christmas I gave her a Christmas ornament with little mountains painted on it and she loved it, and seeing that it brightened her day made me happy too. Sometimes when I visited she would give me a hug. The last time I saw her was March 19th this year. She was waiting for a ride, I think, and she gave me a hug and told me that she was happy to see me, and I was happy to see her too. But then when I did go back to Shoppers about 2 weeks after Easter I couldn't find her and I was like "maybe I missed her". And then yesterday my mom told me the news, I was heart broken. I would trade anything just to give Wanda a hug again and be able to see her at Shoppers again. May God look after her in Heaven. And my condolences to her family, her friends and others who went to that Shoppers Drug Mart just to see Wanda - Posted by: Jennifer (Knew Wanda from Shoppers) on: May 08, 2018

You were truly the brightness of my day when I worked at the mall, I was lucky enough to have known you and you will be greatly missed. I'll never forget our conversations about work, because you made me laugh every time. Your light has gone much to early, and your memory will live on in those who loved you most. - Posted by: Shae (Aquaintence) on: Apr 22, 2018

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Wanda's passing. She had a smile that would light up the room, the kindest heart and the best hugs. Not one person should ever have to go through the struggles and heartbreak she endured. Yet.... she always had her beautiful smile and wonderful laugh for everyone. When she returned to work after her husband's passing she saw me walking by Shoppers and came running out to give me a big hug. We spoke for a few minutes. I told her we all missed her and was happy she was back. She said she found it too difficult sitting at home thinking day after day. She spoke lovingly of her daughter as she always did and and of how much she missed her and spoke about the pain of losing Irvine. She needed her friends, co-workers and customers to keep her mind occupied. You could see the pain and sadness in her eyes but still put on a brave face for others. She truly was the sunshine in my day. We shared so much laughter with our private jokes. And many of our jokes overheard by others would send us off into fits of laughter. But we also shared sadness. I admired her so much. I admired her strength, her courage and her ability to be so caring and compassionate when she herself was hurting so deeply. She treated everyone with the utmost respect. I have so many fond memories of her. I still look for you Wanda. Always hoping it's just a bad dream and you'll be standing there with a smile and a wave. For a short time, the sun hid behind the clouds. But has now reappeared knowing you're now with your loved ones. When I hear the thunder roar I will think of you and tell myself that's your laughter from above. I'm happy knowing you no longer have to endure the heartache and pain you've had for so long. Rest in peace darlin'. You're home now. I will surely miss you. - Posted by: Kim (Customer) on: Apr 21, 2018

To the Family of Wanda and Irvine: I was very saddened at the news of your parents' passing. Ms. Wanda was a kind soul with a kind word for all. Mr. Irvine was my bus driver many years ago when he drove nights to Transcona. I was taking night classes @ U of W. When he got to my stop, he would wait until he could not see me when I ran to my house half a block away. The next day, he would be flashing his beautiful smile. We take solace that this beautiful couple is together in each other's arms watching over their family and friends. May their stars shine brightly in the night sky. REST IN PEACE - Posted by: Carmelina Kjartanson (client) on: Apr 20, 2018

Wanda was like a sister to me, I actually call her sis. I'm not from Canada, my family is in the States, and Wanda always opened up her home to me on holidays and was always there for me, no matter how big or small the issue, she had a way of making things alright, she will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Jay Jackson (Friend) on: Apr 17, 2018

There are but few people on this earth - rare and precious souls - who are so much larger than life that they leave a lasting impact on those with whom they share the briefest of encounters. That sums up Wanda and all those fortunate enough to pass through her till at Shoppers Kildonan Place. The genuine and unconditional kindness she extended to everyone was something from beyond this world - it was nothing short of divine - and it was marvelled at and admired by many, myself included. She didn't just make the world around her a better place - she made those around her better people. Look up "Amazing Grace" - I'm sure you'll see her picture. - Posted by: Angie (Customer) on: Apr 17, 2018

Myself, and so many other employees at Kildonan Place are deeply saddened by the news of Wanda's passing. Wanda was an inspiration to me. Her positivity and laughter and just the way she treated people in general was a beautiful thing to witness. I had the privilege for the last four years of having her work the cash register right outside my location (Vivah) and on countless occasions she was my saving grace, whether it was having my back, offering me advice, or giving me one of those wonderful, amazing hugs. Just listening to her interact with customers made me smile more times than I could possibly count - I am so grateful for that. I will cherish all my fond memories of Wanda. Sending my deepest condolences. RIP beautiful lady ❤️ - Posted by: Tammy (Friend) on: Apr 16, 2018

To me, Wanda was the definition of strength. No matter what was going on, when anyone saw her she was smiling. She just had this energy about her that if you were having a bad day, it was just gone with one smile and a "hey baby, how are you?" I loved going in to shoppers and seeing Wanda. Im going to miss her so much, and her bugging me about me always forgetting my optimum card - Posted by: Chelsea Law (Friend/customer) on: Apr 16, 2018

The world lost another beautiful soul. I worked with her for 5 years and she was the sunshine that made Shoppers worth working for. She was the mom to all of us. She had so many tragic life events that she bravely fought through. Wanda did not deserve what life threw at her but she continued on with a big smile, a big hug, and a shoulder for us to cry on. Rest in peace you wonderful lady. You will be very missed by so many people. You made so many smile. I still can't bring myself to believe you are gone. Goodnight Wanda. We love you. - Posted by: Lindsay (Friend) on: Apr 15, 2018

I am deeply saddened to read of the loss of Wanda and offer sincere condolences to her family. I did not know Wanda personally but only as a customer at Shoppers Drug Mart. If she wasn’t too busy she would take the time to chat. She treated all her customers with a smile, a pleasant word or two and had a positive outlook to life. She was a gem and will not be forgotten. - Posted by: Judy (Customer) on: Apr 14, 2018
