Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALYETTE LAURA LAVOIE TURENNE Born on Saturday March 29, 1930. Died peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 13, 2018. Lived a wonderful life! Alyette grew up in a prosperous St. Boniface family. Her grandfather Isaie Lavoie was a City Councillor in Saint-Boniface and worked for the Hudson Bay Company (HBC) as of 1883. Afterwards he founded Lavoie and Company in 1918. Her father, Paul H. Lavoie, also an HBC sales rep and mother, Orize (née Degagné), were kind and loving parents. Summers in Kenora were special. We remember her dearly departed brothers and sister: Gilles (Anne), Gisèle (Don Shore), André, René (Joyce) and Charles. The love of her family and parents came naturally to Alyette as well, a true people person. Her good humour, generosity, laughter and friendship touched many! Her door was always open, and everyone knew they could drop by any time and be welcomed. In 1955, Alyette married Camille Turenne, the love of her life until his passing in 1987. She was devoted to her three children: Paul and Claude in Winnipeg and Michelle (Guy Smith). She was a special grandmother to Alexandria Smith, Matthew Smith Turenne (Joanne) and a wonderful great-grandmother to Avery Turenne, all from Mississauga, ON. Her memory will remain in the hearts of her sister Jeanine Champagne, brother Michel-Claude Lavoie and his wife Patricia from Montreal. Alyette loved her many nieces and nephews from Vancouver, Fernie, Turner Valley, Winnipeg, Dryden, Vermillion Bay, Thunder Bay, Montreal, Halifax and Cocagne. As well, her special friends Roger Zwickel and Antonio Penuela from Miami. She was godmother to many Turenne and Lavoie nieces and nephews and never forgot a birthday....bibbidi-bobbidi-boo! Alyette was creative. She loved drawing and art, excelled at sewing and fashion, decorating (inspired her designer daughter), gardening (inspiring son Paul), gourmet cooking and music (inspiring son Claude). She had an enviable collection of jazz and classical music as well as selected works of Manitoba artists. Alyette was not a major fan of air travel. One major trip to Hawaii to visit her brother Butch in the 1970s was enough. However, she did manage to white knuckle herself on planes to Toronto many a time to visit her grandbabies! She never hesitated to fly for birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmasa frequent flyer! So, it is with immense sadness that we say good-bye to this wonderful and much-loved person: mother, sister, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, cousin and friend! We will celebrate her life at a later date. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

We were so sad to hear of Alyette's passing. She was such a great neighbour on Jubinville Bay and such a friendly, funny, vibrant person. I can hear her voice and her laugh even 20+ years later. Our sincere condolences to Michelle and family, Paul and Claude. - Posted by: Lynda and Jim Falloon (Former neighbours) on: Apr 17, 2018
