JUNE HILL It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden, but peaceful passing of June Hill, of Winnipeg, on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the age of 83 years. She was predeceased by her mother Bertha and father Michael Railian, as well as her beloved husband Nick, of 48 years, in 2003. June is survived by her sons, Andy (Debbie), Nick (Sandy), Scott (Sandra); and daughter Melanee (Peter); grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler (Christine), Breanne, Georgia, Shelby, Ethan, Stephanie, Scotty; and great-grandson Benjamin. She had a heart of gold who continually put others ahead of herself unconditionally. Her smile would light up a room and everyone enjoyed her sense of humour. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and having family get togethers. June had a passion for many sports, especially the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. She spent a lot of quality time at the cottage in Grand Beach playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends. She never could do enough for her kids, whether it was going to their sporting events, coaching hockey or volunteering at the local community club or school. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the staff at the River East Personal Care Home. Funeral service will be held Monday, April 30 at John Black United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy. at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Winnipeg Humane Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Words cannot describe how much she meant to all of us and will be deeply missed.

June was upbeat, positive, and generous. My parents enjoyed their time at Grand Beach socializing with June and Nick who were vibrant centres of the lake community. My first home furniture was purchased at their store and June met my Mom and me there to help me select my items. June’s kind heart and warm personality will always stay with me. I will always appreciate the friendship and care she extended to my Mom when she needed it most. The Hill family was blessed to have June. On behalf of the Phillips family, I extend sympathies to June’s family and toast a life fully lived and loved. - Posted by: Lori A Phillips (Daughter of Cliff and Pat Phillips, family friends) on: Apr 30, 2018

Ms. Junie My bridesmaid and my Angel 😇 I will forever miss your “sunshine”. You were one of my favourite people in the entire world! You had so much love and so much time for me and for anyone. You were that person. You were authentic and genuine and you made people feel so special. That was one of your greatest gifts. I loved your incredible enthusiasm, your passion for life, and your undeniable drive! You would stop at nothing to get something done or accomplished. You had fight! I loved that about you. I drew from your energy so I thank you for that! I am so thankful to have travelled with you & Nick! Our first trip was to Fiji where Chris and I married. Nick was our Chief and Kava King & you... beautiful you were the most stunning bridesmaid I could have ever had by my side! I loved having our afternoon “nip” from the old jar! You were always happy and you spread your happiness to everyone. Then there was Hawaii...well there are so many stories to tell it’s ridiculous. From the beach party where Nick insisted we drink every last drop from all our coolers before we take flight to Fiji! Then the bus ride to the airport was truly one of my most unforgettable experiences in my life ! Junie you were the best pole dancer and you taught me at that very moment that life is way to short not to enjoy every minute in our lives! Seriously your “Come on Down” song was epic!! I love you and will miss the hell out of you! Of all the people I’ve walked this earth with you were the best! Thank you I’ll see you on the other side. My deepest condolences to your family. Huge loss!!! Love Brenda - Posted by: Brenda Fulsher (Her adopted “radio” daughter) on: Apr 28, 2018

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of June Hill. June and I became close friends when we both worked at Western Savings & Loan Association in 1954-1958, along with Helen Zaparniuk, Mae Johnson, Lorraine Wicklund and others. June, Helen, Mae, Lorraine and I were inseparable during those years and we all attended one another's weddings (as we were all very young, single girls when we first met). We remained close friends and shared many, many wonderful times and gazillions of laughs together, as well as more serious conversations when any of us was worried or concerned about our babies when they came along. Life intervened, and I moved away from Winnipeg in 1967, resulting in our friendships becoming difficult to maintain (there being no internet and long distance was expensive in those days). So we lost touch - but I've never forgotten those wonderful friends and happy times. RIP, dear June, I will always love you. I worked at the Safeway at Henderson and Bronx from about 1980-1984 and June was a regular customer the entire time I worked there. Your mom was just such a lovely sweet person who was the rare type of customer that I have often thought of over the years. I recall that she would bring her shopping cart with her .... just a sweet sweet lady. Sorry to the family on the loss of this special lady - Posted by: Wendy B (friend) on: Apr 28, 2018
