LUBA SKWARCHUK It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Luba on May 15, 2018 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her loving husband Johnny, and her loving parents, Ivan and Julia. She was the adored mother of Vera (Oleh) and Nadia (Claus), and cherished grandmother of Lubka, Julia and Raiya. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Vera in California and Nadia in British Columbia. Luba was born in Winnipeg and was the eldest of three daughters. The three sisters were all married in a remarkable triple ring wedding ceremony on September 1, 1951 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. This extraordinary event overflowed from the church into the streets of Winnipeg and was witnessed by hundreds of people, including media. Mum's family was the source of her happiness and will be her legacy. She and her husband Johnny had many happy years raising their family in Winnipeg. As a devoted wife, she was committed to John and his career at Carpathia Credit Union. She steadfastly supported all his endeavours with grace and much admiration. She leaves behind many fun-filled memories with her grandchildren and through the years, she encouraged them to persevere in their university studies and to graduate in their chosen fields. She will be remembered in our hearts for her sense of integrity, feisty spirit and boundless affection. We always knew we were loved and could always count on her unwavering support. Mum was our rock because she was the essence of love, always radiating warmth and kindness. She was a passionate patron of the arts throughout her entire life. She loved attending the ballet, symphony, theatre, and especially Ukrainian dance and musical productions. Her calendar of concert events and her desire to entertain family and friends kept her "on-the-go." Special thank you is extended to all the wonderful caregivers at Wyndham Manor in Oakville for the extraordinary kindness shown to our mother during her stay. Given Mum's love of the arts, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Shevchenko Foundation, which generously supports hundreds of cultural and educational programs throughout Canada. Funeral service will be held June 7 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 907 Main Street www.korban chapel.com

"On the Go" Famous words by Luba Skwarchuk!! She was a wonderful, strong and caring person just as Mr. Skwarchuk was. Always loved going to her Inkster home and putting on slippers (she had always kept a basket of slippers in her kitchen closet) sitting at her table enjoying good food and conversation. Never a dull moment with her! I will always keep her memory close to me and never forget the great times had with her. She will be missed! My deepest condolences to all of her wonderful family!
