WILMA DOROTHY FUNK (BOWMAN) April 15, 1949 - May 26, 2018 Wilma grew up in the North End of Winnipeg, on Radford Street. She attended Andrew Mynarski and Robertson School. She worked at Globe Envelopes, Christie's Biscuits and Sunset Thermographers. But her favourite job of all was looking after all four of her granddaughters, teaching them baking, cooking and many crafts. She briefly played golf at Elmhurst Golf & Country Club, but retired happily from there to be a fulltime babysitter, housewife and gardener. She met Vic in 1965 and they soon married in 1967. They just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in December 2017. Life took a sharp turn on March 28, 2003, where she was admitted to the hospital. She remained there for 83 days after several strokes and by-pass surgery. She returned home a different person with many handicaps. Her mobility became a difficulty to her causing several trips to the hospital every year. Her last trip was on April 26, 2018, where she had difficulty swallowing. Her stay resulted in being in the Intensive Care Unit of Seven Oaks Hospital due to not being able to breathe. Wilma passed away peacefully on May 26, 2018 with Vic and Karen by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Louise Bowman, and infant brother. She is survived by her husband Vic; son Andy (Donna, Sarah and Jenna); daughter Karen (Casey and Dineen); and special son-in-law Darryl Rainka. She is also survived by her sister Irene Jorgensen of North Vancouver, British Columbia. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the 5th floor, Unit 7 and Intensive Care Unit at Seven Oaks Hospital for their exemplary care for Wilma in the last month of her life. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue at Henderson Highway, with reception to follow.
