After many years of suffering with COPD she is finally at peace. One of her greatest loves was music, and she was dancing right until the very end. Cathy was born on August 31, 1964 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was the youngest of five siblings including Valerie Jakul (Randy), Donald Trochim (Sharon), Barbara Wilkinson (Paul) and Lawrence Trochim (Debbie). She was predeceased by her husband Robert Spear; parents Nellie and Michael Trochim; daughter Vernessa; son Rob; and father-in-law Bob Spear. She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Spear (Jared); her siblings, and mother in-law Rae Spear. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning her Business Administration Degree from Red River College in 2005. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, and spending time with family. In particular, she loved listening to and playing music. In her younger years she played the violin, accordion, and piano. The family would like to thank the professional and compassionate staff at Riverview Health Centre for taking such good care of Cathy. A small family interment will take place later in June. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, http://www.rhc.mb.ca/index.php/donate/ www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

I went from Kindergarten to grade 12 with Cathy. We were very good friends in our younger years and drifted apart in high school. We often walked to and from schools together and spent a lot of time practicing violin together. We always laughed. I remember "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John was one of her favourite songs. I have thought of her often in my adult life and I wish we would have reconnected. Please accept my sincerest condolences. - Posted by: Andrea DeRuddere ( Kuruliak) (Friend) on: Jul 18, 2021

I was good friends with Barb (nee Trochim) in high school. I spent many hours in the Trochim household. I especially remember when Nellie (mom) tried to get me to eat headcheese. Still don't like it. I knew all of the family and want to offer my sincere condolences. I knew Catherine and remember her fondly as "the little sister". My name is Kathy Kaye now, but at the time when I knew the family well, I was Kathy Cropp. My thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Kathy Kaye (friend) on: Jun 02, 2018
