KEITH MELVYN SETTEE Peacefully on May 26, 2018, Keith passed away at the Oakview Personal Care Home, at the age of 74. Dad was predeceased by his wife Sharon in 2006. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, James (Theressa) and Eileen (Gerry); his five grandchildren, Pierre, Adrien, Madeline, Meghan and Myles; sister Esme (Gordon); brothers, Norman, Brian (Mary), Burke, Lyle and Aubrey (Moira) and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born on June 1, 1943 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Esther and Norman Settee. Dad grew up in the Elmwood area enjoying many days spent at Chalmers Community Club, which would later become a big part of his life. In 1965 dad married his best friend Sharon and settled down to start a family. After a couple moves out west the family settled back in the Elmwood area, where they lived until 2006. Dad worked as a shipper/receiver at various companies throughout his working career. In 1988, due to a diagnosis of Parkinson 's disease, dad worked from home in the role of "domestic engineer" which he greatly enjoyed. We have many fond memories of this time, as we were often the recipients of dad's homemade baking and cooking which was delicious. Thank you to the staff at Oakview Place for the wonderful and compassionate care you have given to our dad over the last 11 years. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. If you so wish, donations in memory of Keith can be made to Parkinson Canada, www.parkinson.ca

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My deepest condolences to the family. I was fortunate enough to share many memorable times with Keith, brother Burke and others at Chalmers Community Centre during long winter months, playing hockey virtually every night for hours - even in -30 weather, freezing our toes - then warming up inside and coming back out for more. Keith was a great skater. I can still envision him taking possession of the puck in his own end, skating the length of the rink and circling around behind the opposition net (sometimes more than once) before making a play out front. God bless you. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Dave Gillis (Chalmers C.C. "alumni") on: Apr 05, 2020
