FWAMBA FLORIBERT YOKO The Yoko family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of Fwamba Floribert Yoko on Sunday, June 3, 2018. Fwamba is survived by his partner Melissa Willim; sons, Tshipu and Mekhi Yoko; parents, Rosalie and Pascal Yoko; along with 12 brothers and sisters, and 14 nephews and nieces. Also left to mourn are Melissa's two siblings and her parents, Tanya and Ivan Koop and Neil Willim (Holly Smith). Fwamba was born on September 9, 1989 in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo and moved to Winnipeg in May of 2005, where he resided until his unfortunate passing. Fwamba's number one priority were his children and his family. Fwamba was an active member of his community, working as a mentor and positive influence to so many youth. Fwamba lived his life to the fullest by enjoying the simple things, making a point to visit his parents, siblings, nephews and nieces, spending time with his friends that became family. He valued his family and friends and did anything in his power to help them when in need. His children were the light of his life and he strived to provide them with everything they wanted. He would never be seen without his jewellery and took pride in that, as well as his clothes and his car. He was a Beyonce enthusiast who loved all sweet food, especially cinnamon buns with cream cheese icing. He will be so incredibly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to meet him. A public viewing will be held at Calvary Temple, 440 Hargrave Street on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by a service and interment. A celebration of his life will be planned, more information on this to follow. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

  • I knew him ever since I was born, he was one one my closest family member I had I would always get excited when seeing him a week before he died we made a promise the we would stay together for two week until his unfortunate passing I never forgot about him and I never will I miss him - Posted by: Alexis (Nephew ) on: Oct 06, 2023

  • I met Yoko about 10 years ago and was privileged to watch him grow up into a young father with a passion for his children and family and a commitment to make himself the best person could be. He encountered numerous barriers along the way, but persisted with honesty and courage. What shone through most often, was his concern for others. He reached beyond barriers to create positive outcomes for those who reached out to him. I am saddened that his potential has been cut short. May it live on through his children, his nephews and nieces and all those who were touched by his goodwill. - Posted by: Susan Van Dreser (Friend) on: Jul 03, 2018

  • Yoko truly was an awesome guy. Reached out to me so many times during his time as a youth leader, at Impact youth group at Calvary Temple. When Friday nights came I was not only excited to see friends but my youth leader Yoko. I could’ve been having the worst day but as soon as Yoko came in with that smile my attitude always changed. Condolences to all his family and extended family Love ya Yoko - Posted by: Brandon Beaton (Friend ) on: Jun 12, 2018

  • Yoko & I met at a bible camp when we were around 13. Today I was going through my Family/Friends photo album from when I was kid and I have a full page of us at camp. He was always the life of the party wherever we were. He was such an amazing and funny person to be around and I'm glad I got to meet him. To his children, family and close friends I am deeply sorry for your loss. 😢 - Posted by: Jessica Dubuc (An Old Friend) on: Jun 11, 2018

  • Fwamba was one of my first male friends who genuinely loved me, as I love him. We were almost inseparable in high school, and we continued to hang out for the years that followed. 13 years of friendship with Fwamba. He became family to my family and I. My dad called him son, as did my late mother. He was one of the last people to see my mom before she passed away, and Fwamba was there to give her one of her last laughs and smiles. Fwamba would randomly show up at my house with a big smile on his face, and even if I wasn’t home, he would stand around and talk to my dad and brothers. Even though Fwamba wasn’t related to me through blood, he was still my brother. If I could tell the whole world about him, I would. Life isn’t the same without his big, beautiful smile and laugh, and I know he’d probably be upset with me for saying that because he always told me to stay strong and that life goes on. But truth is, he could never be replaced. I admired his unconditional love for his children and for Melissa. My condolences and prayers go out to his family, Melissa, their children, and friends. I will be there for you all, just give me a shout. Fwamba had such a big heart, and anyone who was lucky enough to have a place in his heart would know just how beautiful his soul is. We love you Fwamba! So so much! Thank you for everything and I mean EVERYTHING. We will hold it down for you here on Earth! There’s a heaven for a G! Love you! - Posted by: Nicole Carino (Fam) on: Jun 09, 2018
