FREDERICK REUTHER Frederick Gordon Bruce Reuther, born November 27, 1958. On Monday, June 18, 2018, aged 58, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by the ones he loved most. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Skip and Louise. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Dana; children, Jeff (Teri, Brooklynn, Tyler) and Ashley (Ashton, Maxx, Mackenzee and Levi); sister Mary (Grant); brothers, Frank (Jan) and Gord (Christina), brothers-in-law, Duane (Alisa) and Shane (Krista), father-in-law Wayne and mother-in-law Iris; along with many nieces and nephews. Fred had many special people in his life that loved and cared for him throughout his life. He could never have asked for a better lifelong friend who has become part of our family and who had loved him unconditionally, Frank Muska - we are thankful for you. Fred worked very hard his whole life in many different jobs. He recently retired after 25 years of service with Griffin Wheel. Fred was a very dedicated worker. Fred grew up in Weston and it was there he made his many close friends through sports. Fred was a Weston Toro through and through. Fred loved the outdoors and music. He shared his love of both with many people. He introduced fishing fun to a lot of people. He baited a whole lot of hooks! Fred loved his family. He was so proud of his children and the great adults they have become. He was very thankful for the little bundle of joy that entered his life a year ago and was by his side almost every day, making for many happy moments. Grumpa loved his Levi. Beside his family, Fred's other love was Ingolf. The place he wanted to be, the place he met Dana over 50 years ago. The place his family grew and will continue to grow. His love for Ingolf cannot be described in a few words. Fred fought hard and met his family goals this year and we are thankful he is at rest now watching over us all. The family would like to thank Dr. J. Paul from CancerCare Manitoba. He provided Fred with such great care and his compassion and connection with Fred helped to make this journey easier. A celebration of Fred's life will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Hwy. Lunch to follow. Donations to a charity of your choice in Fred's name would be appreciated. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

  • Dana, Jeff, and Ashley, our sincerest condolences. We know your wonderful memories of Fred (dad) will get you through this painful time. Every time we saw Fred he was nothing but happy, and friendly. Yes even when we saw your family very recently at Walmart and Fred knew how ill he was, he was so upbeat, so chatty, and so so proud of that baby! ..... In years gone by, he was also one of the few parents to attend not only all of Jeff's hockey games, but all of the practises too! That's where we got to know your whole family, and what fun times they were. Fred sure knew the game and loved to coach from the stands. Sounds like he was a real hoot at the lake too, what a full life he had! .....again, our sympathies, Dave, Monique, Ryan and Tamara - Posted by: the Coffell family (hockey friends) on: Jun 21, 2018

  • I knew Fred since I was a young girl. He met Dana and later they both helped take care of my uncle which I am eternally grateful. FRED you helped him through his hard time when he had cancer and I hope you had the same type of support/angel in your midst. My thoughts are with you as you were a very wonderful and loving person. • One of those larger than life guys from Weston. Always seemed up for something, any activity, really, as long as people were having fun. Heard the school principal describing him as a great goaltender as he filled up the net. - Posted by: Bruce Thomson (Friend) on: Jun 20, 2018

  • Dana and family, So sorry to read about Fred's passing. Just remembering the good old Animal Cracker Days. • So many great memories, most from times at the lake. A couple weeks after knee surgery we took a couple of boats and a couple bottles of Zing and headed up to the creek near the store and proceeded to toss as many Suckers as we could catch, onto the bank. I remember Fred's mom had made spaghetti for dinner...with a belly full of spaghetti and way too much Zing... well lets just say it took years before I could eat spaghetti again. But the most memorable time was when we went down to the lake one weekend in January, got to the cabin on Friday night. It's probably 35 below, so Fred lit a fire in the cookstove and put a can of beans in the oven to warm up! We went for a ride and came back an hour later..... beans everywhere and the oven door had been blow right off! Hadn't talked to Fred in years but never doubted we were still good friends. - Posted by: George Richmond (Old friend) on: Jun 20, 2018

  • It is with tears that we offer our condolences to Dana and family....Big Freddie Reuther....words, again, can not describe the person....full of life..an organizer (maybe Dana had a huge part in this)..music man extraordinaire... fisherman....basically a extremely good friend to all he met....❤️ Hugs ❤️ He will be missed ! - Posted by: Debbie & Trudie Bradshaw (Friends) on: Jun 20, 2018
