Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRITA SCHMIDT January 24, 1928 - June 29, 2018 Rita (Thiessen) Schmidt burst into life on January 24, 1928 in Friedensfeld, Manitoba to Jacob and Margaret Thiessen. She was the fourth of six children, including Elvera, Bill, Jack, Abe and Marina. It was an active and lively home. Rita was predeceased by her brothers, Bill, Jack and Abe and her eldest son Eric. She leaves many loved ones, including her beloved husband George, daughter-in-law Anne, son Walter (Shirley), daughters, Lori, Sheila (Rick Ardies), and many grand and great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue. Viewing will be Tuesday, July 3 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service with cremation to follow. The family thanks the palliative staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their wonderful care. Donations in memory of Rita may be made to Square One, available at the service.
