JOSE DASILVA ARRUDA It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jose, at age 72, on July 6, 2018. Jose is survived by his wife Deolinda; children, Gabriela (Guy) and Paula (Jeff); grandchildren, Stephanie, Jennifer, Rachel and Ryan; brother Manuel (Rosa); many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Maria Garcia and Manuel, and his sister Maria. Jose was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1970. He had a great love for the sport of soccer having played for many years and was affectionately known as "Checa" by all of his friends. He enjoyed watching and following his favourite teams and later in life found a new joy in gardening where he looked forward to every spring when he could start planting his vegetables and watch them grow. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave., West.
