Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySUSIE BANMAN 1918 - 2018 At the age of 99, on July 9, 2018, God called His faithful servant Susie Banman home. She is survived by her brother Jack; daughter Cindy Ulrich (Harvey); grandchildren, Jordan (Angela) and great-grandchild Adria Mara, Jason (Brooklyn), and Kyla; as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Susie was predeceased by her brothers, Peter, Bill, Fred, John, Al and sister Tina. Susie was born in her grandmother's house in Horndean, Manitoba, on September 6, 1918, the oldest child of Abraham and Helen Banman. Her childhood was characterized by hardship. When she was not quite 12 years old, her mother died after months of illness. Susie had to assume the mother figure in the home whilst still attending school. One year during traditional prayer meetings to begin the new calendar year at school, she dedicated her life to Jesus at the age of 13, took the subsequent step of baptism, and joined the church at the age of 18. After a couple of moves, the family settled in Winnipeg where they bought their first home in Glen Elm, on Noble Avenue. After searching for a new church family, they decided on Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church. Susie spent the last few decades of her life as a member of North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church. She loved God's church and gave faithfully of her time, tithes, and served in many and various ministries. Susie will be remembered as one who loved family and opened her home for meals and special occasions. She was a servant at heart. She cared for her aging father in the home until he died at the age of 93. She also started foster parenting in her 50s, eventually adopting one of the foster children, Cindy. For many years, they cared for each other. Susie loved on Harvey and Cindy's children, Jordan, Jason and Kyla. She was so proud of them. She prayed for them without ceasing. Susie was a prayer warrior for all the needs that came her way. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home who looked after Susie during her final years. Funeral service to take place on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg with family friend Pastor Norm Neufeld officiating. Reception following the service. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul.

Thank you for being a loving supportive foster mother to me and my sister Bonnie in the ‘60s. It was your kindness and understanding that I will always be grateful to our Lord for letting you be our caregiver. - Posted by: Donna Beaulieu (Former foster child) on: Aug 06, 2020

I have fond memories of singing in the ladies' trio in the Mennonite Brethren Church at Kitson and Traverse in Norwood where Susie sang second soprano and I sang first soprano. The name of the alto escapes me right now although I remember her face clearly. It was a great pleasure to sing together to the glory of God. - Posted by: Traute Klein (Friend) on: Jul 14, 2018
