Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySYLVIA (ZORNIAK) GLOWIENKA October 24, 1931 - July 23, 2018 It is with great sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Sylvia Glowienka on Monday, July 23 with her beloved husband, Bernie and sister-in-law Helen at her side, at the Charleswood Personal Care Centre of Diabetic complications. Left to cherish her memory is husband Bernie, the love of her life for 65 years; sons, Bruce (Johanne) and Robert (Jacqueline); grandchildren, Vanessa, Brandon, Garrett and Kody; great-grandchildren, Sylvya Sunshine and Malakai; sister-in-law Helen; nephews, Blaine (Patricia) and Kris; cousins and extended families. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Fred Zorniak, parents-in-law, Victoria and John Glowienka and infant son. Sylvia was born, raised in the north end of Winnipeg. She was a very loving, devoted wife to Bernie and their two sons who were her life. She cherished and doted on their four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sylvia was proud of her Ukrainian Heritage and was president of the Ukrainian Women's Auxiliary and sang in the choir. Sylvia was a very personable, outgoing people-person, loved get-togethers large or small and made sure there was enough food for everyone. They travelled extensively throughout Mexico, US and Canada. She especially enjoyed Granite Lake where everyone congregated on their deck for happy hour and snacks. All the kids at the lake called her Baba and she always had toys, games and treats for them. Her passion for shopping was phenomenal - but it had to be "on sale". Cremation has taken place and interment will be on Saturday, July 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Cemetery "Devotion Annex". Special thank you to her home care workers, especially Terresalina (Lina) and the Charleswood Personal Care Centre. Donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. VICHNAYA PAMYAT. My condolences go out to Bernie and the family on the passing of Sylvia. I had the pleasure of meeting them both on the sale of their home on Selkirk Ave. as they went back a long way with my mother Verna and father Ed in the North End of Winnipeg. We were very sorry to hear of Sylvia's passing. Bernie & Sylvia were welcoming neighbours when we moved in next door to them on Moray Street in 2008. We had chats across the fence and learned the history of our new neighbourhood. Our condolences to all of the family. - Posted by: Marvin & Dianne Charney (Neighbours) on: Jul 30, 2018
