MICHAEL CHABAN August 29, 1931 - July 19, 2018 It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Mike is survived by Ione, his beloved wife of 59 years; his dearly loved daughter Michelle Isaryk, and his precious granddaughters, Nicole (Cory) Marten and Courtney (Kyle). He is also survived by his loved brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Marg Edwards, and their children, Terry (Debbie), Gary (Cheryl) and Cheryl (Jim) Cooke and their respective families. He is also survived by his nephews, Ted (Eileen) and Ken (Jude), and nieces, Jerri and Donna and their families. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mary, brothers, John (Teenie), Stanley (Kay), Olga (John) Hyrce and their families, as well as his mother and father-in-law Reta and Cecil Edwards. Mike was employed by A.E.I. Telecommunications (formerly Siemens Bros.) until his retirement. This was a job he greatly enjoyed as he travelled to many places throughout Canada, the US and Japan. Mike was a man who could fix anything and do it extremely well. His greatest joy in life was being with family, they were everything to him. Mike will always be missed and loved forever. As per his wishes, there will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Poppa, I will miss you for all time. You were a generous, good-hearted, and reliable man who was always there for his family. I'm very lucky to have you for my grandpa, and I'll hold the memories of growing up around you close to my heart forever. - Posted by: Nicole (Granddaughter ) on: Feb 10, 2019

  • I remember the great times Mike and I had when we traveled together on company business. One time on a flight into Vancouver the plane hit turbulence as it circled out over English Bay, falling like a stone for half the distance to the water! The pilot brought the plane to a safe landing fighting a 40 mph cross- wind, the passengers applauding when we started to slow down. Another time in Vancouver we were on a high floor of a hotel when we heard fire engines and looking out of the window saw them down below! Fortunately we did not have to evacuate the building as it was a small fire in a stairwell. As a colleague he was always very helpful and a comfort to be around. Our condolences to Ione and family.
