ALVIN (AL) ALEX REHBERG September 15, 1957 - July 26, 2018 We are heartbroken over the untimely passing of our beloved dad, son, brother and grandpa, Al Rehberg. His family was by his side as he lost his short battle with brain cancer. He is loved and missed by his daughters, Trina (Bruce) and Hayley (Lars); mom Ruth; brother Harry (Lynda); grandchildren, Taven, Hudson, Hayden, Kai and Kali; nephew Steven; and niece Natalie. Al is also remembered by his close friend and cousin, Anita (Kevin) and friends, Marcel and Betty, and Craig and Natalie, who brought comfort to him in his final weeks. Al was predeceased in October, 2017 by his dad Alex Rehberg. "Big Al" was a man who could do it all - work on cars, build or fix anything, draw and cook. He owned several Camaros in his youth, but his passion project in his later years was his 1955 Chevy Bel Air. He enjoyed spending time at his house in Winnipeg Beach and working on his hobbies in his garage. Most of all, he loved his family and took great pride in being a dad and grandpa. Al worked at Labatt after his graduation from River East Collegiate, until Labatt closed its Winnipeg brewery. He also worked at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg for several years. Al was known to always have a smile on his face and a heart of gold. Cancer may have taken his life, but we will forever cherish the memories he left us with. Al's family would like to recognize the excellent care he received at the Health Sciences Centre and extend their appreciation to the nurses, doctors and health care aides who looked after him. In lieu of flowers, Al's family would appreciate donations to CancerCare Manitoba and the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

  • Trina and Haley...our most sincere condolences on your dad's passing. Know you are thought of with love and compassion! Hayley we really felt your dad's energy when you spoke about the 1955 Chevy Bel Air. Our memories include..... Al's "pacing" "anxious" energy when your mom was rocking in the chair in your living room.... pregnant with Hayley.... and you were taking your sweet time making your entrance into the world. We also remember Al's constant checking to make sure everything was alright.... when Trina was jumping on the bed with our son. Condolences to all those who mourn Al's passing. Peace! - Posted by: Brian & Sheila Kaltenberger (Family Friends) on: Aug 20, 2018

  • I am very sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it is to lose a parent/grandparent and you lost him way too soon. He was very proud of his children and spoke so highly of his dear Mother. To all of you, I sincerely hope the treasured memories you have of him will help you get through this sorrowful time. Take care of yourselves and of each other. - Posted by: Ms. Daly (Hayley,Trina and Taven's Kindergarten teacher) on: Aug 17, 2018

  • To Our Big Al's Family Our sincere condolences on the passage of Al. He was a wonderful man with a very big heart and would always give us his beautiful smile. We worked with Al for many years at Middlechurch and he would enjoy the jokes and making fun of things and loved to laugh. We are extremely sad to hear of his sudden passing as we had talked to him several times since he moved to Wpg Beach. But never knew of his illness. He spoke of how he enjoyed it there and how special his new garage was that he had built. He was so proud of that and I'm sure he enjoyed working in his workshop in the garage. To Al's daughters & grandchildren he spoke fondly and often and loved you all very much. And to Al's mom who he adored please know how sorry we are for your loss.
