Born: Jun 22, 1923
Date of Passing: Jul 30, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA KUC June 22, 1923 - July 30, 2018 Peacefully, with her family by her side, our dear mother and grandmother passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, at the age of 95, following a short illness. Anna trained as a surgical nurse but because of the Second World War, she was compelled to leave her homeland and eventually settled in Germany for a short time, where she met and married Peter, her husband of 57 years. It was love at first sight. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter Helen, and in 1948 they immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg, where they were blessed again with the birth of their son Andrew. Anna was employed at the St. Joseph's Nursing Home for a short time before joining the Holy Family Nursing Home as a nurse's aide when it was converted from the Children's Hospital. There she was employed for 30 and a half happy years until her retirement in 1988. During that time, Anna developed close friendships with the nuns and fellow workers and always said that while at work it felt like being at home. Like her husband, Anna was a happy, optimistic, kind and loving person, always full of energy and ready to help. And like her husband, she enjoyed good health and living at home. Anna is survived by her son Andrew and daughter Helen (Tony); grandchildren, Lisa and Anthony; and family in Ukraine. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Fr. Zachary Shwaluk, OSBM and Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Peter and Anna, you were blessings to your family from God. May God surround you with His eternal love and tender care. With eternal love and gratitude and forever in our hearts and prayers, your family. VICHNAYA PAMYAT. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193 www.korbanchapel.com

I am so saddened to hear of Anna’s passing. I tried to make plans with others to visit near her birthday. With the bussiness of the summer well. I realize how much we take for granted. Anna just know I love you and have you in my heart forever. I met Anna when I was 16 working at Holy Family. I really looked up to her and respected everything she taught me. I tried always to see her even after she retired, visiting with her near her birthdays was something I tried not to miss. She truly cared about how I was. She took me under her wing at work. And never stopped caring and worrying I was okay. Goodbye and Thank you Anna for being a part of my life. It meant more to me than I realized at the time. Just hope you knew. - Posted by: Lisa Crozier (Friend co-worker) on: Aug 05, 2018
