JUDITH ARLENE HOMER With sadness the family announces the passing of Judith on August 11, 2018. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, Wayne; son Curtis (Marilyn); and daughter Lori (Bruce); along with grandchildren, Travis (Ashlee) and Leah. She was predeceased by her parents, Nora and Hugh Marshall, and brothers, Gordon and Leonard Marshall. Judy grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario and married the love of her life in 1963. In the 1960s and 1970s Judy, along with her friend Genivive, worked on forming the Ostomy Association and Crohn's and Colitis Foundation in Thunder Bay. In 1974 Judy returned to school and took an RNA course. She worked for Dawson Court Home for the aged. In 1984 Judy and Wayne moved to Winnipeg. They lived in Edmonton for two years and returned to Winnipeg in 1997. Judy enjoyed gardening, baking, reading, camping and fishing. Her fondest memories were of baking Christmas cookies with her children; especially Lori mixing up the colour sugar sprinkles, running through the fall leaves with the children, quiet times with Wayne and every minute spent with her grandchildren. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue at Henderson Highway, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Dear Wayne: My family would like to express our heartfelt condolences to you on the death of your beloved Judith. My Mom Agnes shared a room with her at Concordia Hospital. We could not help but notice that you showed up, without fail, three times a day to be with your precious Judith. You attended to her every need, comforted her in her sadness, and reassured her of your love at every opportunity. Your devotion to her was unmatched, despite the pain you must have been experiencing on a daily basis. Judith was so fortunate to have you as a life partner. Our thoughts are with you; take good care. - Posted by: Stephen and Pauline Babulal (Judith's hospital room-mate) on: Sep 03, 2018

  • Wayne, although we haven't seen each other since we were kids Frank has sort kept me up-to-date on your life. I'm so sorry for your loss. My prayers and love go out to you and all of the family and friends who mourn Judith. - Posted by: Darlene Hovind (nee Petch) (Cousin) on: Aug 16, 2018

  • I have known Judy since I was born. I use to ride to Wayne and Judy’s when they lived across from Claude Garden school. Judy and Wayne were always very sweet about my surprise visits. We will miss this beautiful, kind, loving, person. Will be praying for Wayne and the family. Love Judy and family - Posted by: Judy Lumpkin (Cousin ) on: Aug 15, 2018
