ILENE MARY PORZNAK June 12, 1925 - August 14, 2018 Peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the age of 93, Ilene passed away at the Grace Hospital with family by her side. She was predeceased by parents, William and Elizabeth, mother and father-in-law Anne and Joseph; her husband Stanley, son-in-law Robert, brother William, sisters, Kathleen, Beth and Bertha, brothers-in-law, Frank, Gerry, Eddie and Gerry and sisters-in-law, Mildred and Pauline. Mom (Grandma) will lovingly be remembered by her children, Kathy, Brian (Monique) and Joe (Maureen) as well as by her grandchildren, Jordan (Callie), Meghan (Dave), Justin (Hailey) and Tyler (Charmaine) and great-grandson Jacob. She leaves behind many others (family, friends and neighbours) who loved her dearly. Ilene was born and raised in Fort Francis, Ontario moving to Winnipeg after meeting her future husband Stanley in Atikokan, Ontario. She was a devoted mother who raised three young children alone after her husband passed away suddenly at the young age of 37. While raising her family, she worked as a home care worker for Family Services. Ilene lived in her Old Kildonan neighbourhood for 60 years and remained in her family home until the age of 92. She was active in both the community and church. One of Ilene's passions was collecting dolls. Over the years, this collection became the centerpiece of her home and she was proud to show it off to anyone who visited. She loved thrift store shopping, garage sales and was always on the hunt for a new treasure. She enjoyed summers at the lake, swimming and berry picking. In her granddaughter's words, she was a beautiful, kind and loving lady who always had a positive outlook on life. She lived every moment to the fullest and will be dearly missed. A celebration of Ilene's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28 at Kildonan Community Church, 2373 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, it would be Ilene's wish that donations in her memory be made to the Salvation Army.
