JOAN CHORNOBOY April 11, 1929 - August 18, 2018 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Chornoboy (nee Senkiw), peacefully in the morning on August 18, 2018 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Joan was the fourth child of Harry Senkiw and Anne Nazerewich Senkiw's six children. Joan will be missed and fondly remembered by her children, Larry (Eleanor), and Shirley Fourneaux; her grandchildren, Lisa (Miles), Marc (Kristine), and her great-grandchildren, Karissa and Sarah. Joan will be sadly missed by her sisters, Stephanie and Helen, her brother Emil (Mary) Senkiw and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Taras John Chornoboy, her daughter Christine (Joe), her son-in-law George Fourneaux, her brother John, and sister Alice. Joan was born in Sarto, Manitoba. She married Taras on August 2, 1946. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Midland, Ontario where they lived for five years. They moved back to Winnipeg in 1951 to raise their three children. While raising the family, Joan worked at several jobs, but nothing gave her more joy than the arrival of her two grandchildren, Lisa and Marc. She and Taras delighted in taking their grandchildren camping every weekend during the summer months. Joan loved to garden and play table games with her grandchildren and children. She loved a good laugh and remembered her childhood and youth in Sarto, Manitoba with great affection. The family's heartfelt thanks go to the staff at the Victoria and St. Boniface Hospitals. Joan's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. The family will hold a private interment prior to the celebration of Joan's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan's memory, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
