Born: Jan 13, 1931
Date of Passing: Aug 23, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA LAZARENKO (KOHUT) January 13, 1931 - August 23, 2018 Peacefully, on August 23, 2018, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away. In 2005 Mom was predeceased by her husband Nick. She leaves to mourn children Pat Homeniuk (Rick), Gail Roy (Mike), Cheryl, Darryl (Kelly); grandchildren Carrie, Jacqueline (Patrick), Stephanie (Stephen), Will and Nate; great-grandchildren Presley, Robyn, Nicholas and Rosabel. Mom was born in Rosa, Manitoba. Being one of thirteen children, family was important to her. As a teenager she moved to Winnipeg to complete her studies. In 1951, she married Dad and bought a home in Windsor Park where they raised their family and, even until her passing, "24" remained as the hub for the family. In 1958 they started a family business and together they worked side by side until their retirement in 1988. Upon retirement Mom enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Spruce Sands. Her focus was always on family; she had a special relationship with each grandchild who, in turn, adored their Baba. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Niakwa Country Club, 620 Niakwa Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. We are so sorry for your loss here in Calgary. Our prayers and hearts are with you all. Auntie was always so welcoming and I have fond memories of our family trips and staying at “24” . Listening to our moms tell stories in Ukrainian, and wondering what they were talking about, rolling perogie dough, and making cabbage rolls and playing shuffle board. I loved those times and am thankful that she was part of my life. - Posted by: Shelley Eklund (niece) on: Sep 01, 2018
