Dad was the son of Esther Segal and Joseph Hershfield. His siblings have all since passed: Max in infancy, Nathan, Sam and Myrna Pollock. Dad was married to Estelle Sara Brovender January 22, 1945 and they were blessed with three daughters: Lois Offerman, Maxine Zabenskie and Esther Hershfield. His family today includes his son-in-law Murray Cox, Esther's husband. His family also includes his six grandchildren and their families: Michael Offerman; Joey and Jocelyn (Esguerra) Offerman, their children Brayden and McKenna; Pam (Zabenskie) and Andrew Conrad, their children Jacob and Owen; Susan Zabenskie; Nancy (Cox) and Tim Hilderman, their children Brett, Casey, Gordon and Mason; Harvey Cox. He then ventured out on his own, travelling throughout the Interlake until he eventually settled in Hodgson, MB, acquiring a pool hall and restaurant, which later evolved into a general store. He was a salesman through and through. He bought and sold Seneca root, raw fur, cattle, fence posts and rails and fish for mink ranchers. He became very active in the local legion. Dad enjoyed playing cards, singing, laughing and telling jokes. He developed close friendships with his business partner Donald Houle Muminawatum, of Norway House and his longtime employee Mary Thomas. Dad was laid to rest at Rosh Pina Memorial Park. Dad will always be remembered for his gentle and loving nature, warmth, good humour, friendly smile and kindness to others. Dad, this is the 30th year of your passing. You are missed, and will always be remembered with love.
