MARGUERITE GOOS (nee DEWYNGAERT) Mom was born to be a grandmother. There was simply no one better at it than her. Her path to World's Greatest Grandma started on April 22, 1935. Born in St. Boniface, she was an adventurous little girl whose love for all living things was evident at an early age it's hard to find a picture of young Marguerite without a carriage full of puppies, an armful of kittens or her pet pig in tow. As a young woman, her regal beauty caught the eye of a talkative Dutch man, who told his friends soon after he met her that she was the one. Sure enough, on April 20, 1963 she traded the name DeWyngaert for Goos. They built a home together, which was filled with childhood keepsakes, Nana Mouskouri music and the amazing smell of Mom's cooking and canning. She gave up her career at Manitoba Medical to take on a more important role as mom to Cyndy, Ken and Aileen. Son-in-law Andre joined the family in 2009. Nothing brought her more joy than spoiling and we mean spoiling her three grandchildren: Alex, Aiden and her little doll Maddie. She was the first to get on the floor and play with them; dishing out hugs and cookies in equal abundance. She was a tireless volunteer, devoted wife, daughter and mother; a master seamstress and the original Martha Stewart; a sweetheart who cared for everyone before herself. On August 27, 2018 her heart was so full of love that it literally burst at the seams. (That's how we explain it to the little ones.) Her passing has left a huge hole in our hearts, but we know she's finally being rewarded for her selflessness and devotion. Mom, we know it wasn't always an easy journey, especially when you lost Dad, your "co-pilot" in 2014, but your unwavering faith even right until the end taught us to believe that you are in a place of peace, love and joy. Be good up there, Munchy! We love you more than we ever had the chance to tell you. Cremation has taken place and her funeral mass is scheduled for Tuesday, September 4 at 11:30 am at St. Vital Catholic Church on Pembina. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.ca
