ANDREA ARCIONI March 20, 1917 - August 31, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved papa, nonno, zio passed away on August 31, at Lion's Manor Personal Care Centre. Papa was predeceased by his mother in 1917, father in 1933, stepmother in 1948, only sibling, sister Maria in 1975, infant son Billy in 1953, grandson Jeremy in 1979, his wife Giuliana in 2002, brother-in-law Joe in 2000, sister-in-law Bruna in 2005, and daughter-in-law Tanya in 2017. Left to mourn his passing are his son George; daughter Franca (Ross); grandchildren, Justin, Joelle (Andy), Joshua (Allison) and Andrew (Sandra); great-grandchildren, Jacob and Hudson; nephew Marino (Maria Antonietta), and niece Lily, along with numerous relatives and friends in Gorizia, Italy, Slovenia and Canada. Papa was born in Leskovec, Yugoslavia during the First World War. He and our mama immigrated to Canada to start their new life here. Papa arrived at Pier 21 in December of 1951 and Mama, George and Franca in April 1952. Papa was a hardworking, gentle soul. A wonderful father and talented cabinetmaker. He never complained nor was bitter about the hardships he suffered in Italy during the Second World War. He believed in moving on and not dwelling on the past. Always strongly independent, he rarely asked for help and always managed to provide for his family. We were never rich in money, but always had food on our plates, clothes on our backs, a roof over our heads and lots of love. He lived life to the fullest, going fishing, working in his garage on a project, riding his bike, going dancing, visiting his friends, and chatting up the ladies at Lion's, until his health began to decline. A huge thank you to everyone at Lion's Manor on the 2nd floor. You made him feel like family, even endearing yourselves to him by calling him "papa". You were a great comfort to us the night he passed, especially Lori Anne, Dianne and Rosie. There were many others who know how grateful we are to them. On behalf of my family, I cannot begin to tell you how we appreciated the kind words, hugs and shared tears. You truly are compassionate people. Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, September 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at John Osborne #1 Army Navy and Air Force of Canada located at 360-1395 Ellice Ave. Casual dress and bring your smile. Flowers gratefully declined. A donation to D'Arcy's Arc, in his name, would be appreciated as Papa loved animals. D'Arcy's Animal Rescue Centre, 730B Century Street, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0M1 or online at CanadaHelps.org "Riposa in pace papa. Ciao, until we meet again." www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

  • On behalf of my whole family I want to say we share your loss. Your father was the kindest, sweetest and gentlest man. With a twinkle in his eye as he teased unmercifully or told a story. The memories are too numerous to share, and the love we have for him too boundless. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time and always.... hugs. - Posted by: Heather McCheyne (long time family friend) on: Sep 08, 2018

  • Dear Franca and family. I am sorry to hear of your papa´s passing. My memories of him are that of a generous, caring gentleman who valued friends and family immensely. He was so kind to my mom, my sister and I. We are reminded daily of ¨Cioni¨ when we walk by the rocking horse and cedar chest he so kindly crafted for us. He truly had the patience of a saint. He built my dad´s tool shed which still stands today. When dad wanted to build it his way, Cioni would say, ¨ sure Corrado, we can do it that way.¨ He will always have a special place in our hearts.
