Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH MAY ELIZABETH O'REILLY ( JACQUES) May 15, 1927 Brandon, MB September 1, 2018 Winnipeg, MB Ruth passed away peacefully at age 91 after living a proud and independent life. Ruthie is fondly remembered by the extended Dubienski family. She was a dedicated and loving part of the family for over 60 years. Ruth had a joyful loving presence, a great sense of humour and a never ending positive attitude that was an inspiration to all. Ruth worked for many years at Grace Hospital in housekeeping and only retired when she was in her early 70s. Hard work was like a tonic for Ruth, she could never get enough. Her love for dogs was well known. The Dubienski family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Stradbrooke Residential Services for enabling Ruth to maintain her own home and independence until she was 90. We would also like to thank the staff of Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home for their loving care of Ruth these last months. At Ruth's request, there will be no service. Donations in her memory can be made to The Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 1M3.

I met Ruthie 7 years ago through Stradbrook Residential Services. She was this amazing tiny ball of energy. She could always put a smile on my face no matter what. She was real quick with her one liners “Holy kitten fit!” Or if I sneezed “God bless ya and may third child be a bouncing baby boy” I never really knew exactly what she meant when she said that, but she made me giggle. In no time she had come up with a pet name for me, Blondie. I wasn’t sure if it was because she couldn’t remember my name, regardless it made me feel special. I have so many fond memories of Ruthie, I could probably write a book. One summer I took her out every Friday afternoon down Corydon Avenue and sat on a patio where she would enjoy a rum and coke. We picked a different patio every time and she just loved sitting outdoors and watching all the people walk by. Some people would smile and say hi to her. She asked me why they did this. There was something really special about Ruthie that she didn’t know, people felt drawn to her. She had such a sweet smile that warmed your heart. I am ever so great full that I got to be a part of Ruthie's life, even if it was for a short time. She taught me more than she’ll ever know and for that I am thankful. You will be missed Ruthie. Ruth "Ruthie" was a very special friend to us over many years. She always had a smile on her face and liked to hear good jokes. We remember fondly one time in particular that we had gone to visit Ruthie. We had called her from downstairs and as she was about to come down on the elevator and something happened and the next thing we knew the fire paramedics arrived along with ambulance etc. We were finally told that Ruthie had fallen just before she was getting into the elevator and that she was being checked out by the paramedics. When we were able to go up to see here she had been moved back into her room with no broken bones... Thank goodness. her first comments to us were "boy you should have been here a few minutes ago. Now I know how to meet some grovie good looking men, just fall down!" She was a gem and a delight to all who knew her. she will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dubienski family.
