Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • I first met Wilmer in elementary school at Princess Margaret school - he lived on Edison I lived on Kingsford. I remember walking home from school on a cold cold winters day. I dared Wilmer to stick his tongue on a metal no parking sign. Well he did and he got stuck. Really stuck. I can look back and laugh now. Decades go by it must’ve been somewhere after 2010 I joined the Wellness Institute and while changing in the change room I noticed the guy at the next locker and I thought that guy looks just like Wilmer so I discreetly went over there and looked at his client card well wouldn’t you know it’s Wilmer! Well we got reacquainted and talked about those walks home from school and had a good laugh. I saw him quite often after that, I remember him telling me he had issues with his heart. About 2018 I moved to Selkirk and joined a gym there. A Few years ago I saw his obit. Oh Wilmer you’re a Good soul. Don’t go sticking your tongue on any frozen Metal poles in heaven. - Posted by: Hans jürgen Winkler (Old friend) on: Mar 19, 2024

  • Wilmer was great to talk to. Always had a great sense of humor. My sincerest condolences to the staff at Number Ten and most especially to Wilmers family. - Posted by: Del Pelagio (Former Colleague) on: Oct 07, 2018

  • Many condolences on your loss. Please confirm if he went to JP in & around 1970. It is so sad when the loss occurs at such a young age. - Posted by: Leonard Roy Penner (teacher in Junior High at John Pritchard School, I believe.) on: Oct 05, 2018

  • Our deepest sympathies to you and your family Eleanor. We've been remembering so many great times with Wilmer. The wine vs Pepsi debates on our ski trip to Utah, sitting on the floor at The Forks working through the details for the two stores Wilmer designed for us, keepaway with a mini-football at Grand Beach, his patience (and ours) in making the right move in card games, ... So many great memories. - Posted by: Ted & Wendy Janzen (Friends) on: Oct 04, 2018

  • Blessings go out to Wilmer's family. I sat beside Wilmer at Numberten for many years. He always had a great sense of humour and was very helpful to younger staff members. He had a great knowledge of the Canadian Building Code and would offer friendly legal advice as well. He also was a great conversationalist in regards to politics in general. We often shared travel stories about Europe as we both loved to travel. He will be missed by ALL who knew him. - Posted by: Michael Farion (Co-Worker, Friend) on: Oct 04, 2018

  • I'm so sorry to hear this, I will miss Wilmer a lot. He was a wealth of knowledge professionally, generous with his time for others in the office, and always ready with a good pun or quip. I also always related to Wilmer on a personal level - a true mentor and a good friend. - Posted by: Gabe Derksen (Friend, Colleague) on: Oct 03, 2018

  • So very sorry to hear about the loss of Wilmer to his family. My late husband (Werner Kliewer) and I used to live next door to them for many years on Glenwood Crescent. Many cherished memories. Wilmer was one of Wern's dearest friends. May they be enjoying their reunion in heaven. Do they play Bridge in heaven? :) - Posted by: Faye Hall (friend) on: Oct 03, 2018

  • I am so sorry to hear about Wilmer's passing. He and I spent a lot of time together in high school. Wilmer had a great sense of humor and cared about everyone. Learning came easy to him which freed up time and energy that he chose to invest for the good of others. I believe he was president of student council in Grade 12. When I needed help with my studies, he was always there, and willing. I was fortunate to see him at our 35 year MBCI reunion (Class of 1973) and do a little reminiscing. My prayers go out to his family and friends. Rudy Froese North Vancouver, BC - Posted by: Rudy Froese (School classmate) on: Oct 03, 2018
