SHIRLEY YOUNG On October 4, 2018, Shirley passed away peacefully at 1:00 p.m., at the St. Boniface Hospital. Shirley leaves to mourn her husband, Ron Nels and son Jarret Kerr; grandchildren, Brendan John Nels and Samantha Hope, of Winnipeg; also remaining are brother James Alexander Thompson and wife Marsha, of Barrie, ON; sister Mary Morris and husband Dennis, of Ashern, MB; sister Brigette Budgell and husband Jerry, of Lac du Bonnet, MB, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Shane Nels Young; parents, Gordon and Doreen Thompson; sister Yvonne Thompson, sister Gloria Hodgson, brother Alvin Thompson and numerous aunts and uncles. Shirley was born November 4, 1949 at Winnipegosis, MB. She attended Winnipegosis Collegiate where she completed grade 10. She worked at numerous jobs in her early youth and then married Ron Young on July 25, 1970. Shirley joined the Bank of Montreal in 1971 and she dedicated her entire career in banking until she retired at age 63. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandparent, sister and aunt, who truly believed that family was most important in her life. She remained positive through the most difficult times and most importantly her final battle with cancer. She will be dearly missed by family, friends and everyone who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
